Natalie Portman Longs To Return To The Stars In The New Trailer For Noah Hawley's LUCY IN THE SKY

Before she wields Mjölnir in Thor: Love and Thunder, Natalie Portman will star as an astronaut who struggles to adjust to life back on Earth in Noah Hawley's feature debut, Lucy in the Sky. Take a look...

A new trailer for the feature directorial debut of Legion creator Noah Hawley, Lucy in the Sky, is now online.

Natalie Portman (Annihilation, Thor: Love and Thunder) stars as an astronaut named Lucy Cola who returns to Earth after a lengthy space mission only to find that she longs more than anything to be back among the stars - and based on what we see towards the end of this footage, she's prepared to go to some pretty extreme lengths to achieve that.

The film, which will have its world-premiere as part of the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival lineup, has been described as a sci-fi drama, but we don't expect to see any extraterrestrial threats in this one. In fact, it seems to be more focused on a journey into madness than outer space.

Also starring Dan Stevens, Jon Hamm, Ellen Burstyn, Colman Domingo, Tig Notaro, and Nick Offerman, Lucy in the Sky hits theaters on October 4.

@L0RDbuckethead - Off-Topic.

Check out these pretty cool new set videos of Daniel Craig's stunt double jumping off a bridge for Bond 25:

Cool that they seem to be playing with the aspect ratio.
Brad Astra and this in the span of 2 weeks! Really excited for both, both from Fox too - so hopefully Disney doesn't stop making these kinds of films.

Vox Lux is the best performance from Natalie Portman----EVER. Really went unnoticed last year.

@BlackBeltJones - Natalie Portman's been so consistently good in the indie scene* for years, man. I hope Taika gives her something to work with, since as much as I liked Ragnarok I thought he kind of wasted Blanchett.
*I'll add Annihilation there too, since that's a bigger film but she's still great in it.

@tmp3

She's one of my favorites because she is a rare one who really becomes her characters; like you look at them and they appear to have truly become this character. She does the little things to transform.

Shame cause I thought Blanchett committed and she said it was the most fun she's had on a film and would love to return. I look at that performance as a very CHEW THE SCENERY old school 80s villain take; very Flash Gordon which fits Ragnarok as a whole.

Taika can't really afford to waste Portman imo. I don't think he will. Since she's going to be a lead of sorts. I don;t thin she would've returned if it wasn't meaty enough.

@TheDoctor1225 - Richardson is one of my 3 favorite cinematographers working, Venom 2 is gonna look amazing lol. Maybe it'll be good this time too? lol
@BlackBeltJones - Yeah, she's great. I just thought that that level of camp didn't use Blanchett's dramatic skills to the level I was hoping when she was cast in the role. Even Hemsworth got to show off his dramatic chops in that film during certain scenes.

Really a shame that sitting on this mans hard drive is a Script to Doctor Doom that might rival DCs ‘Joker’ in its boldness, courage, and creativity. And more likely than not...it will never see the light of day.

😟😟😟😟

Eh, looks alright I guess. Natalie Portman and Jon Hamm, obviously great. Though, watching this trailer, I realized that Jon Hamm essentially just plays the same guy in everything. Unfounded comparison but it just seems like First Man — only not as cool and interesting.

Natalie is one of the most talented actresses working today, Annihilation is one of my favorite movies ever !

@FBarnhill I quote liked it. Its a movie, and there's a number of these kinds of films I think, where I can def see a majority of folks not liking it but I just become engaged with it and she was great; for me at least. One of those movies where it just grabs you.

She was chewing the scenery in a way that felt dramatic and dynamic. It wasn't cheesy to me.

@tmp3 @BlackBeltJones - Love me some Cate Blanchett and I don't necessarily think she was wasted in the role of Hela in Ragnarok but she definitely needs to return. One of my favourite MCU villains just because of Cate's charismatic and throwback performance.

I do agree that given that Blanchett herself is also a great actress that she could be used to show a bit more range.

My favorite Portman movie by far is still The Professional. This movie looks interesting, but she gave me a Sally Field vibe for some reason, and that turned me off a bit. More of a rental than a ticket price.
