In 2015, The Wachowski sisters (The Matrix Trilogy) took over Netflix with their latest project, Sense8. A show about eight individuals from around the world that are psychically connected, and can share their abilities with one another. Now, the first official trailer for the show's 2-hour Christmas Special has been released, and it features the return of the show's eight protagonists and the troubles their cluster faces during the holiday season.

Fans of the show might notice something different as they watch the latest trailer below, and that is that one of the main eight, Capheus, previously played by Aml Ameen, has now been recast due to "creative differences" with Ameen. Actor Toby Onwumere will now be portraying Capheus throughout the Christmas Special and Season 2.

Along with the trailer for the Christmas Special, Lana Wachowski has a message for fans of the show. She explains why she felt the need to make a holiday special for Sense8, and what it means to her.

The Sense8 2-hour Christmas Special wil be available on Netflix December 23rd, 2016.

The journey continues as these eight singular hearts and minds weave in and out of each other’s lives finding deeper connections, learning darker, more desperate secrets about one another and struggling to identify with more than just oneself.

Sense8 Season 2 will be available on Netflix May 5th, 2017.

Picking up where season one left off, Capheus (Toby Onwumere), Kala (Tina Desai), Lito (Miguel Angel Silvestre), Nomi (Jamie Clayton), Riley (Tuppence Middleton) , Sun (Donna Bae), Will (Brian J. Smith) and Wolfgang (Max Riemelt) come together both physically and mentally, plunged into the middle of each other’s tragedies and triumphs. On the run from Whispers (Terrence Mann), and forced to question their very identity, it’s a matter of survival as the Sensates must find a way to live with, understand and protect one another against all odds.

I watched episode and tanked it. Boring show that focuses on the characters sexuality rather than making them actually interesting

@Ha1frican - Maybe you should've watch more than one to get the plot you missed...

@Viilax - it wasn't the plot that bothered me. The plot was interesting it was the characterization that was dreadful. Look at Stranger Things, the plot although intriguing in the beginning is kept a secret but the characters were so well developed and interesting it kept you on the line so they could reveal more later. Sense8 just made me dislike the characters by 30 mins in because there was nothiing interesting about them except their sexuality. If they wanted to make a show about a lesbian or gay guy that's fine as long as there's an interesting dynamic because of it or that's the driving force behind the plot but in Sense8 it isn't its incidental and as such received too much focus for me to stay interest

Sense8 is a unique and good show. I'm excited for season 2 and how the Wachowskis improve the show.
