It's no surprise that many people are excited about the new Chris Nolan film Inception. The film comes out on July 16, but no one really knows what is it about. LA Times had an interview with the director in which he explained the look of the film, when did he came up with the idea and much more. Also four new photos are online. Here is what he has say:

-"I wanted to do this for a very long time; it's something I've thought about off and on since I was about 16.I wrote the first draft of this script seven or eight years ago, but it goes back much further, this idea of approaching dream and the dream life as another state of reality.I never particularly found a limit to that; that is to say that, while in that state, your brain can fill in all that reality. I tried to work that idea of manipulation and management of a conscious dream being a skill that these people have. Really, the script is based on those common, very basic experiences and concepts, and where can those take you? And the only outlandish idea that the film presents, really, is the existence of a technology that allows you to enter and share the same dream as someone else."

And here are the photos:

Will Christopher Nolan avoid any questions about Batman 3 ? I can't wait for the Inception interviews, when the media is going to ask about Batman 3. If he's not going to do it then give it to an already established director. So we know it's going to be a guarantee hit. like James Cameron, J.J.Abrams, etc....

teabag@ Pretty much what I thought when I saw the trailer. Pretty much the Matrix and I can't stand Di Caprio, so I will skip this one.

I would be willing to bet that some amount of this idea came to him from that 80's movie "Dreamscape", it sounds like the two are similiar concepts. Come to think of it, doing a remake of Dreamscape would be crazy, too! I wanna hear some DK3 news, for real!!

Makes sense that Nolan had to get WB to let him make Inception before he'd do another batman film If he's been wanting to do this since he was 16.

well I don't think I would say the Matrix is the closest thing that this movie resembles. some aspects sound similar but i don't think it is entirely the matrix. I would go with princenamor1 and say that it more closely resembles Dreamscape. actually come to think of it the overall idea of entering dreams has been done a lot before and actually the matrix really has nothing to do with dreams, it's more of a simulated world rather than a dream world.

Good point. But still The Matrix was the first that came to mind.
