Possible Plot Point For STAR WARS: UNDERWORLD Revealed?

This comes from Ain't It Cool News, who have been contacted by somebody who supposedly works at LucasFilm named Daniel. Possible SPOILER below if true, but as always, take the below info with a grain of salt.

Daniel tells us that one of the series' first episodes will involve a group of bandits acquiring the capability of time travel, and using it to travel back in time to stop Darth Vader from ever existing.

Pretty interesting, eh? I've been thinking recently why time travel has never been included in any of the Star Wars movies or TV shows (although as Ain't It Cool News points out, it featured in the Expanded Universe) and this sounds like a great way to introduce the series. Go big or go home. Share your thoughts below in the usual place.

AICN would be fairly reliable (or at least they used to be!), but it doesn't sound too plausible..

well thats just gonna be crap...because we already know they will fail and not kill him...lol pass

@imnotahero the plot sounds horrible, but it would make more sense to kill Anakin than the Emperor. The emperor never could have taken over without Darth Vader.

@MrWayne - I know everyone loves to make Vader seem really important but what did he actually do? Some clean up work to make order 66 go a little smoother. Thats about it. Why not kill the guy who has an army in his control?

Soooo... let me get this straight. We finally get a series that is set outside the prequel trilogy era, which fans have wanted since the prequels were released, and the first thing they do... Is introduce time travel in order to go back in time to the damned prequel era???? Seriously?

Once again...

People who aren't liking this either:
A) Don't truly like Star Wars
or
B) Like Star Wars waaaaaaaay too much.

This sounds awesome, assuming the episodes are 1-hour/45 minutes long and not 30 minutes. This show has a lot of possibility

Yet another wrong-headed Star Wars decision. Attaboy, Georgie!

TIME TRAVEL HAS NO PLACE IN STARWARS !!!.

StarTrek - yes. StarWars... Hell no.

That's an entirely idiotic idea, it's a lose lose situation. They time travel to kill Darth Vader. Great. So either they succeed, and wipe out the entire Star Wars saga (since the Star Wars movies equate the Tragedy of Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader), or they fail and die, meaning the series is pointless anyway.
Such a shit idea, because it just screams "George Lucas ripping off J.J.Abrams' Star Trek 2009 film".

Why not just a series about the Rebels? Or the Storm Troopers? Bounty Hunters? They could mix it up, with a similar idea to Heroes (characters in seperate narratives eventually interacting), with different episodes focussing on different things. We could get Boba Fett starring in episodes! If they get Sam Witwer to star in a few episodes, we could have some companion episodes to The Force Unleashed. During this time, they could explore the childhoods of Luke and Leia, even if it were just briefly. How about the first time a young Han Solo meets Chewie? We could even have a Yoda episode on Dagobah!

There's so much to explore in the space between Episodes III and IV, using time travel to go back to the Prequels would be pointless (although if they went further back than the prequels for a couple of episodes, say to the Old Republic era, that could be cool, or even the origins of Darth Sidious)

Nor will I'll be lying too, I think it could be good.

It does not say it's true, it's only a rumor and it does not say if the people will succeed in killing Darth Vader.

Anyway, he was kind of badass at the end of Episode 3, but I think, and I really, really love Star Wars, but I think Darth Vader was nothing in the sequel. He was watching the space and pinching at people sometimes.

The idea of killing him could lead to another series of events and besides the fact that Anakin/DV is the main character the whole series, I think Luke was more real IMO.

The concept could be strange for many SW fans, or the other ones who identify Star Wars only because of Darth Vader, Yoda or the lightsabers, but still, the idea is not stupid.

Give them a try... you don't even know the whole plot of the TV series.

or, perhaps these bandits are trying to prevent Vader from killing the Emperor...remember, he did do that. If he had not succeeded the SW universe would have been a very different place.....just sayin'. probably won't watch this bile anyhow.
SupermanFan09
SupermanFan09 - 2/1/2012, 1:36 PM
Just cause you take out Darth Vader doesn't mean it will stop the Empire...its the classic hitler timeline like someone said...you can try and kill hitler as a baby but someone will replace him and be even more ruthless...they could try and just show the expanded universe but why deal with the saga thats already defined and seen on screen
Ryuuzaki
Ryuuzaki - 2/1/2012, 1:36 PM
Or preventing Darth Vader to happen : kill Palpatine or keep Anakin on the track. That could be it too. Anakin would still be the protagonist of the series.

Wasn't the original story for this supposed to be about smugglers or criminals? Hence the title "Underworld."

Time travel in the Star Wars universe just seems so out of place. I don't like what I'm hearing so far.

Potterman
Potterman - 2/1/2012, 2:03 PM
not happening. Unreliable rumor leak for sure. Lucas, unless he finally has lost his last brain cells, would not let this happen in his universe. I am sure there is a reason why there is no time travel and thats because Lucas has said no to ever writer who wanted to use it. What would be awesome is if we as a community to make a time machine to go back and destroy the prequels before they were made...
Dmon
Dmon - 2/1/2012, 2:22 PM
A couple of nerds going back in time to stop the prequels they could call it Fanboys 2. LOL It would be a lot better then this crap.
