The other day, we reported that Samuel L. Jackson (Marvel's The Avengers) was cast in MGM's upcoming remake of RoboCop, the classic sci-fi film starring Peter Weller. Now, via Deadline, we have another possible cast addition. The site reports that Abbie Cornish - seen in Sucker Punch and W.E. - has been offered the female lead in the remake, which will be directed by Jose Padilha. If negotiations go well, Cornish will play the wife of Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman, The Killing) who believes that she's a widow after Murphy almost dies (and is turned into the indestructible crime fighter known as RoboCop). Gary Oldman (The Dark Knight) is also set to play 'Norton', the creator of RoboCop. Production is expected to begin in September. Cornish can next be seen in The Seven Psychopaths, which will be released later this year.

RoboCop is set to hit theaters August 3rd, 2013.

Why are they even making this movie? The original film is an action movie classic soon they'll remake Die Hard or the Termonator.

SuckerPunch is a lot better than you could ever expect it to be and a whole lot worse than you could hope it might be.

Sucker Punch was brilliant but quite curious how she'd work in a robocop film.

Gusto, come on... Have you gone mad?
Are you dead? Is this you're last will and testement being played out?
Are you being "facebook-raped"?
Have you been body-snatched, like in Slither?

This moves looks as though its gonna be a heavenly reintroduction of the character. We never got to see murphy's wife. We saw hus son in the show but i don think his wife was there. Soo maybe she could be pregnant and he dies a few days before she gives birth. How interesting a plot point that would be

AntiGrif@ We saw his wife and son in flashbacks in the first one. He stalked his wife in the second one and they were both in that godawful show.

I liked Sucker Punch, I think people were expecting more action and not all the drama in the middle from Snyder, I'm thinking this isn't going to be a shot for shot remake of Robocop for the idiots who keep saying that the wife wasn't seen that much in the original.
