Hugh Laurie Will NOT Be In ROBOCOP

Two months ago Variety reported that actor Hugh Laurie was in negotiations to play a villain in the upcoming remake of Robocop, but now sources say talks have ceased.

In June Variety reported that Hugh Laurie was in negotiations to play, "the cold, sarcastic CEO of Omni Corp, which creates the title character." That lead many to assume that it was for the role of Dick Jones, which was played by Ronny Cox in the original 1987 film. But now Variety's Jeff Sneider is reporting that Laurie has pulled out of negotiations.

just find a no name up and coming actor already. noone in hollywood is willing to be the "new robocop" actor so just get some schmuck whose face is hidden most the movie and let the story do the work.

Its funny when we (U.K) see him put forward for big blockbuster Hollywood films - because to us he is and always will be ingrained in the nation's heart as "thicky George" portrayed down through the ages in multiple series of Blackadder.

Probably would have been pretty funny villain. Cant see Laurie in serious roles. Althought House is pretty serious tv-series occasionally. House himself is almost always making everything a joke.
Laurie will always be Bertie Wooster for me.
