Sean Young Wants To Be In New BLADE RUNNER...And Thinks You Should Boycott If She Isn't!

The actress who played Rachael the replicant in Ridley Scott's sci-fi classic really wants to be a part of the upcoming sequel(?), and thinks it'd be so "stupid" not not have her back as that pivotal character that we should boycott the movie if she doesn't appear..

Sean Young has expressed her feelings on the upcoming Blade Runner follow up in the past, and revealed that although she had meetings with the powers that be about possibly reprising the role of Rachael, she was told it was unlikely that any of the original cast would be back. This didn't go down too well with the actress who seems to feel that it would be "disappointment to the audience not to have Rachel in it." If it is a direct sequel, that may very well be true..but does that mean they'd want Young in the role again? While speaking to EW about her new horror movie Jug Face, Young had a lot more to say on the matter.

"Alcon—they’re the ones that own it and apparently they have Ridley to direct it — and when I met with them they didn’t make any offer-plans to include me. And when I called Ridley Scott’s office, he doesn’t call me back. So I guess they’re going to go, like, prequel or…I don’t know what they’re going to do. But my official opinion is that, if they don’t include me in it, everybody should boycott it. Because it’s stupid not to have me in it. It’s really stupid. That’s my opinion! I mean, you try to tell people something sensible in Hollywood and sometimes they just don’t listen, you know. And they usually pay the price too, because everybody’s an expert."

Okay! What do you guys think? Rachael could be an important part of the story if it will indeed be set after the original Blade Runner, but would you want Young to play her again? If not, Katy Perry is interested too!

Wow... I totally care about her not being in it...
As long as Harrison Ford is in it I don't care.

Sorry, but I don't think I'll be "boycotting" this movie. It would be cool if Ford had a small cameo or even star in it though.

Wow, she seems really really desperate.
If she things we're all gonna spark an outrage because she demands to be in it then she is mentally ill.

Sean Young's story depresses me somewhat. She was on an upward trajectory before she flamed out and became d-list. I thought she was very good as Rachael and made that role more compelling than from the original novel. I need cheering up, maybe some older hot Sean Young photos.

''In an unsuccessful attempt to win the role as Catwoman (which was offered to Annette Bening but ultimately played by Michelle Pfeiffer after Bening became pregnant) in the sequel Batman Returns, Young constructed a homemade Catwoman costume and attempted to confront Burton and actor Michael Keaton during production.''
she obviously has mental problems, i feel sorry for her.

for those calling her desparate, after losing the role of Catwoman, she made her own catwoman costume and made her way into the movie studio and began begging for the part...so yeah she can get desparate.

Its pretty sad though, she was beautiful in her prime.

She genuinely seems like she has mental health issues... She's hardly integral to the film or the potential sequel, I thought she (and the character) was pretty forgettable. And it's very sad that she'd urge people to boycott it if she didn't get a role in it - it's a very petty, selfish stance to have.

Besides, if I chose not to watch it, it wouldn't be because she's not in it - it'd be because I thought Blade Runner didn't need a sequel.

@rebellion I'd heard that story, didn't realise it was about her though.

I think she won the original role of Vicki Vale in Tim Burton's Batman but was seriously injured just before production began and was replaced by Kim Basinger. Some have speculated the fallout from missing out on that blockbuster started her downward spiral.

Nothing against SY, though I think she's several cards shy of a full deck, but Rachel is not human and doesn't age and she definitely has. If they have to make a sequel, which I kind of wish they wouldn't, because they will probably screw it up, I don't think any of the original cast should be brought back...though having Ford in it would definitely answer the question of whether or not he was an andriod.

Whenever people search your name on google and the fourth most searched phrase is "Sean Young crazy" you may want to stop and reconsider how things have been going for you..

She can't pay Rachael again if it's a prequel anyway, and if it's sequel she would be dead. Replicants only have a four year lifespan. If they use The Final Cut as the basis, Ford can't be in it either for the same reasons. The only logical way to make another Blade Runner is to tell a different story about new characters set in the same universe, the same way Prometheus did.

Sean, it's because you're batshit crazy, too old to play an android, and nobody wants to work with you anymore. Also, if you were paying attention to this project at all you would have known this takes place years after Blade Runner. She's so thick.
