The folks at Trek Movie have gathered a collection of various quotes from actor Chris Pine on the highly anticipated Star Trek Into Darkness, director J.J. Abrams' return to the Trek universe. Speaking with Red Carpet News, Pine - who plays Captain James T. Kirk - discusses his character's journey in the new film. While Kirk gained the captain's chair of the USS Enterprise in the 2009 film, Pine says that he earns the position in the sequel. "Kirk is fun because he is a brash, cocky, bull-headed kind of guy," he says. "I think the journey he goes on in this new film is a lot about – the first one was about getting the chair and the second one is about earning it. And I think that is a big part of his journey."

Also, in an interview with Radio Times, Pine was asked about Benedict Cumberbatch's heavily speculated villainous role in Star Trek Into Darkness. One of the film's biggest secrets is who exactly the Sherlock star is playing, with rumors ranging from Gary Mitchell to the infamous Khan. Pine revealed some details on a scene involving Cumberbatch. "There’s one scene in [Star Trek Into Darkness] that’s like, you know… in all kinds of heavy science fiction there’s got to be the exposition scene where it’s like, what the hell’s going on? It’s a really, really, really hard scene. Not for me, for Benedict – and watching him handle that and to make something that I think, on paper, could have been a death trap for an actor and to see how he [deals with it]."

Star Trek Into Darkness stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Benedict Cumberbatch, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg and Alice Eve. The film is set to hit theaters May 17th, 2013. We recently learned that not only will we be getting the first trailer next month with The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, but a nine-minute preview will be shown with IMAX 3D screenings of the Peter Jackson film.

If he's Mitchell then we should have seen him in the first star trek as he's suppose to be in the same academy is Kirk. Or has that been re-imagined too?

@DrRockso

I love that we don't know anything about the movie yet. I may be old fashion but I miss the days when all we had were trailers.

I know I don't have to read all the articles about movies before they come out and I usaally don't but still I just like to be surprised when I go to a movie. Not knowing who the villian is makes me more excited to see the movie.

I just find it so surprising that people want to know just about everything about the movie before it even comes out. I know you want to be sure you want to see it before spending the money but still that what trailers are for.

Alll I need is simple plot and trailer to know if I want to see a movie.

Cumberbatch is definitely Mitchell. Check out Alice Eve's hairstyle compared with the character of Elizabeth Dehner.
