SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY Actor Donald Glover Details His Desires For A Potential Lando Spin-Off Film

While LucasFilm president Kathleen Kennedy has walked back her recent comments about a Lando: A Star Wars Story, with the positive reaction to Donald Glover's role in Ron Howard's spin-off film and the actor more than likely signed for multiple appearances one can only assume it will only be a matter of time until it happens.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Glover revealed that he would definitely be up for reprising the role of Lando Calrissian again, expressing how much fun he had on Solo: A Star Wars Story.

“I would love to do it again. It’s really fun. The movie, I feel like, is wide open. This part of the universe without the… I feel like with the Skywalkers, it’s hard because it’s almost like the Bible. There’s a story that you have to tell and the lineage of that family. I feel like out here its like, yeah, we’re just like hustlers and gamblers and space pirates, essentially, so you can do a lot more and have a lot more fun.”

When asked what he would like to see for a potential solo film, Glover had a very interesting and unexpected point of reference for the type of film he'd like to make, the classic NBC sitcom Frasier.

It would be cool to see, like, Frasier in Space — like, a high-end guy in space. All of these characters are very specific and they have very specific points of view, so it’s always going to be fun to see them traveling around to a planet that is the opposite of what they’re used to… And all of that seems like it would be fun to write, for sure.”

I think it's safe to say that no one has thought to pitch a potential Star Wars film as "Frasier in Space", but truthfully, it doesn't sound that horrible an idea.

What do you think? Would you like Lando to get a spin-off film? Are excited to see Glover in Solo: A Star Wars Story? Leave your thoughts below.

I've liked Glover since Childish Gambino - Freaks and Geeks (2011 release)

Not article related just thought I'd throw it out there.

The article was lovely.

I am not sure I understand the point of these prequel films. We KNOW none of these people die in their prequel adventures. So what is the point really. I will see them but will we really get anything out of these films other than a bit more insight into these characters backstory. I am hoping other elements tie into the other elements of other films otherwise I am not sure these films are worth it.

@Forthas - they can tell interesting stories nonetheless, it doesn’t always have to be life and death to be an exciting.

@Forthas - I don’t understand this thinking what so ever, what does a characters threat of death have anything to do with telling interesting stories, people bring this up constantly when trying to bring down marvel characters, why does a character have to die or the possibility of a character dying to make a story interesting, can someone explain this to me

@AdamWest -

This video explains it as well as I could especially when she talks about the fact she "was really hoping for higher stakes..." which she explains at the 2:10-2:35 mark and the 3:23-4:08 mark.

This is all well and good. And I'm sure it will happen because $$$$$$$$. But I would have much rather preferred a competent trilogy continuing/concluding the Skywalker saga which is what they set out to do.

Oh yeah, let’s just give a side character their own movie when we have a literal galaxy of other stories to tell.

No thank you. I don’t want to watch a Disney movie about a guy in space having sex with any alien he can. They make porn for that.

So Lando is Star Wars' response to Doctor Who's Captain Jack Harkness ?

I'm not sure there might be other Solo movies or spin-off to it. So far, the first reactions in France go from mixed to negative. Moviegoers are mostly either angry, deeming it an object of shame and claiming that Star Wars is dead for good this time, or indifferent to the movie so far.

I really don't know what will happen to the future movies, but I feel like there might be changes in the coming months because Lucasfilm can't keep going forward like that. It was controversial enough after The Last Jedi, but this time they're going deep in the abyss.
