STAR WARS: REVENGE OF THE SITH's Jedi Youngling Actor Was Only Paid $100 For His Memorable Role

Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith actor Ross Beadman has reflected on his now infamous exchange with Anakin Skywalker in the Jedi Temple massacre, revealing he walked away with some memories...and $100 or so.

Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith revealed Anakin Skywalker's fall to the Dark Side, and one of the movie's most memorable - and upsetting - scenes came when "Darth Vader" murdered the Jedi Temple's Younglings in cold blood.

With Hayden Christensen reprising his most famous role in Obi-Wan Kenobi this year, there's been a lot of chatter about the scene, particularly as we saw Anakin kill even more children in flashbacks. That's also led to actor Ross Beadman stepping back into the spotlight.

As you may recall, he played the youngling Sors Bandeam in Episode III and uttered that now infamous line. We are, of course, referring to, "Master Skywalker, there are too many of them! What are we going to do?" Well, nothing as it turns out because the poor kids were all killed mere moments later.

It was arguably one of the Star Wars franchise's darkest scenes, but Ross didn't walk away with much more than his memories. Talking to The Geeknd (via SFFGazette.com), he revealed that he was paid only £90 (that's roughly $100) for his Revenge of the Sith role. He says the scene was done in four takes and only took around 10 - 15 minutes to shoot.

This was the standard minimum wage at the time and, despite being a shockingly low amount, it's in line with what non-SAG (Screen Actors Guild) members would receive. It's also worth noting that Beadman was only hired as a background extra and landed this speaking part when the then-6-year-old volunteered to say the line for filmmaker George Lucas.

According to the actor, Christensen shouted "Boo" from behind the camera to scare him, though he couldn't comprehend at the time that his character was about to die. "It took me a little bit of a while to accept that [I died] and go through the grieving process for myself," Beadman laughed.

Had his Jedi youngling escaped, Beadman believes he "could've been a member of the Sith. The hatred could've consumed me to the point where I wanted to get revenge on the person who killed all my schoolmates." Funnily enough, that's pretty much exactly the story arc we saw play out for Reva in Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Going back to the dismal amount of money he earned for starring in Revenge of the Sith, the actor made it clear he holds no hard feelings, calling the experience "priceless."

Yeah for 15 minutes of work. Not too bad. That’s equal to $800k a year

@philinterrupted - yeah. They definitely wouldn't have used him for the full day, so that's actually really good for an extra (he would count as an extra). But guess we gotta make drama out of anything.

@Nightwing1015 - “ He says the scene was done in four takes and only took around 10 - 15 minutes to shoot.”

I’ll be real conservative and give him 2 hours. That’s more than most people make today. We’re talking about 2003-4 wages.

@philinterrupted - Yeah I'm not saying its an unfair wage I think its decent.

Yeah, I'd say the kid did alright... he's making convention appearances and still talking to people about the role almost 20 years later.

I wish people paid me money to hear about what I was doing back when I was a kid...

Anybody want to hear the story of "Field Day" 1998..? Perhaps the legend of the paper football...?

$100 bucks for a 10 year old to repeat a line 4 times? Good deal kid. That buys a lotta Capri Suns! 😝

Only $100? That's pretty good for only having to say one line and getting to star in a Star Wars film. This article is worded to make it seem like a bad thing.

Anakin’s “redemption arc” has got to be one of the absurd in fiction. The guy participates in atrocity after atrocity for twenty years including standing there while they kill every man, woman and child on a peaceful planet. Then we find out he went and killed younglings, poor little babies that he knew and that trusted him and he just slaughtered them. And then he is supposed to one day have some kind of redemption by stopping the Emperor from killing his son which in and of itself could already be considered a selfish act (not to mention Sith are supposed to kill their masters). Like screw that guy. Why does he get to stand next to Obi-Wan and Yoda? He was responsible for so much suffering.

When I was a kid I busted my ass for a whole weekend to sell fresh picked avocados and fresh made lemonade to earn 180 dollars to buy a bike.

Making 100 bucks to stand around with legends making cinematic history and getting to be identified for life as being in Star Wars..... sounds absolutely rough. Tough break guy. His childhood was ruined... oh no...

$100 at ten to stand there and say a line a few times is light work. That’s a game boy cartridge shopping spree

It was only memorable for it unintentionally gaining a meme status since then.

At that age, ''only'' a 100 bucks was a lot for me. As a kid, it felt like I could buy the world with that amount of money.

Also, sure why not bring him back as an Inquisitor.
