STAR WARS: Simon Kinberg To Write Gareth Edwards' Standalone Film?

Last year, Gary Whitta ("Book Of Eli") was hired to write the screenplay for Gareth Edwards' Star Wars spinoff film, which is rumored to be about Boba Fett. Late last week, we found out that Whitta was exiting the project to begin work on his next screenplay, which is said to be Mark Millar's Starlight. According to Slash Film, a new writer has been chosen to replace Whitta and it will be X-Men: Days of Future Past scribe Simon Kinberg. Seems like a good choice as Kinberg is quite familiar with the Star Wars universe. He's an executive producer for the animated series Star Wars Rebels and was previously hired to pen another standalone Star Wars film.

Primary among those questions was, if Whitta is out, who will be taking over the writing duties on the December 16, 2016 release?/Film has learned, but was unable to confirm, that it will be Simon Kinberg. At Lucasfilm, Kinberg is a consultant on The Force Awakens, a writer and producer on Star Wars Rebels, and writer of at least one standalone movie. Whether or not that became this film or is another remains unclear. But Kinberg will be taking over duties for Whitta on this movie.

Star Wars: Episode VII - Actors John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleeson, Max von Sydow, Lupita Nyong'o and Gwendoline Christie will join the original stars of the saga, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker in the new film. It's being directed by J.J. Abrams from a screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan and Abrams. Kathleen Kennedy, J.J. Abrams, and Bryan Burk are producing, and John Williams returns as the composer. The movie opens worldwide on December 18, 2015.

Is Hollywood aware that there are other writers, besides that of Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Simon Kinberg?

How does he keep getting work? OK, Mr & Mrs Smith and Sherlock Holmes were good. Although everything else this guy does is average at best. After Last Stand I can't see how he gets ANY work writing.

I'm not super crazy about this Kinberg guy, why are the same handful of writers doing every big movie release nowadays?

7 of 12 writing gigs were for Fox. Well, that explains a lot.

I actually like Kinberg as a writer. He's definitely done some crap in the past, but overall he's pretty solid.

Kinberg is like Goyer, only as good as the people he works with. Evidence is X-Men Last Stand vs Days of Future Past

oh well, these things go in cycles. like David Goyer and Roberto Orci getting all the sweet writing gigs … it's the movie screenwriters' version of being a trending topic on twitter. good for them, I guess

@ImKennyPowers i thought that crossguard lightsaber was cool at first till i realized that its quite stupid to be honest. The crossguard is meant to block ones attack, but if your trying to block a lightsaber with crossquard lightsaber its gonna go straight through the bit thats protuding out damaging the lightsaber.

@JediPhilosopher I always thought that mabe the were using the force as like a fiel around there body pushing and controlling there movements as the use the lightsaber. They are always aware of where it is and how close the blade comes within there space and vicinity of their bodies.

@Ace101

I think it makes more sense than not. I believe there have been 16 hands cut off via lightsabers in Star Wars movies, so it seems logical.

And judging by this picture, a character we have not met loses/lost their hand, but opted for robotic prosthetic hand:

like Anakin:

instead of realistic prosthetic, like Luke:

@Davinci31 yes, but not many screen writers can suck a d!ck as well as those guys. I can see no other reason for this phenomenon.
