After it's tumultuous production and behind the scenes drama that led to Phil Lord and Chris Miller being fired from the project, then reports that
Apollo 13 director Ron Howard was reshooting 80% of the film, not to mention the less than warm reception that
Hail Caesar! actor
Alden Ehrenreich received after being given the unenviable task of following Harrison Ford as famed smuggler Han Solo I think it's fair to say that there's some concern about the quality of the upcoming
Solo: A Star Wars Story.
Well if the trailer that was released not too long ago didn't convince you maybe praise from another
Star Wars director will. At the AARP Awards, the
Star Wars: The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson was asked if he had seen the aforementioned trailer and what he thought.
To which he responded:
I knew it was coming, but I was still…I was clicking, clicking, clicking, ‘yeah, yeah!’ And I think it looks so beautiful. I can’t wait for people to see more of the film – it’s so fun, it’s so funny. The cast is so charismatic, and I think they all just did a great job with it.
Now obviously whether those words assuage your concerns may depend on how you felt about last year's Episode 8 or what stock you put in the
Looper writer and directors's opinions on films. Whatever the case may be, we'll find out when
Solo: A Star Wars Story hits our screens on 25th May 2018.
What do you think? Are you looking forward to SOLO? Has Rian Johnson's words doing anything to excite you about the project? As always leave your thoughts in the comments below.
