TERMINATOR: DARK FATE Star Arnold Schwarzenegger Reveals Who (Or What) He's Playing In The Movie - SPOILERS

There's been a lot of speculation about Arnold Schwarzenegger's role in Terminator: Dark Fate but during an unexpected Reddit AMA, the actor has finally clarified things...or has he? Read on for details!

Arnold Schwarzenegger returns to the Terminator franchise with Tim Miller's Dark Fate but who - or what - is he playing? Up until now, there have been rumours that he would be taking on the role of the man who was used as the basis for the T-800 but the legendary actor has seemingly clarified matters in an unexpected Q&A on Reddit.

When one fan asked him why his character in the movie looks the way he does, Schwarzenegger pointed to him actually reprising the role of the T-800 rather than a regular human.

"I'm a cybernetic organism," the actor replied, using a quote from Terminator 2: Judgement Day. "Living tissue over a metal endoskeleton." In other words, he's basically doing exactly what he did in Terminator: Genisys and, well, we've been there and done that when it comes to Arnie portraying an aged version of the formerly formidable robot.

There is, of course, a chance he's toying with fans and it's definitely interesting that he was barely featured in that first trailer

The response to the Terminator: Dark Fate teaser hasn't been overly positive and that seems to be the result of the huge amount of VFX and Fast & Furious style action scenes. What are your thoughts on this possible reveal from Arnie? Let us know in the comments section and stay tuned for more.

Mackenzie Davis is clearly playing a robot created by Skynet meant to blend in with humans, but she seems convinced that she's real, and that could be where Arnold Schwarzenegger's character comes in - assuming he explains to her that the villainous organisation uses real people as the basis for their machines. Either way, she's pictured here alongside Natalia Reyes.

Sarah Connor's return has generated an awful lot of excitement and with moviegoers demanding badass female leads, it's pretty clear that she will be filling that void. This is an amazing shot, and while Emilia Clarke was fine in the role as a younger version of Sarah, it's good to have the real deal here!

Gabriel Luna's Terminator can clearly replicate himself, and he now has a name: Rev 9. Right now, we don't know what that's referring to, but speculation is running rampant that it could have something to do with the Biblical verse. A combination of both the T-800 and T-1000, he looks pretty damn formidable and could be the coolest villain this franchise has had yet. Well, maybe!

Arnold Schwarzenegger was barely featured in the trailer, so it's good to see him getting some action here. Rumour has it he's playing the human that the T-800 was based on, but could be be Carl, the owner of Carl's Draperies. That would be weird, but it's feasible!

Tim Miller was working with a limited budget on Deadpool, so it will be interesting to see how he handles this leap to blockbuster filmmaking with a massive budget. Should the movie flop, that will set his career back quite considerably and probably means this series is well and truly a lost cause.

Where is John Connor?

@UltimateCapt - John can be on another mission at the same time as the events of this movie are unfolding.

He can be infiltrated into the army under a false name, trying to approach the men related to Skynet.

@UltimateCapt - child actor named Jude Collie has been confirmed for the role. His place in the story is not clear, but rumors are saying that John is killed early, but Skynet realizes ANOTHER child leads the resistance to victory. And apparently Natalia Reyes plays the mother of that child. Which is why Linda Hamilton is quoted during the movie to say “I used to be her”. All speculation except for the casting, which is confirmed. It sounds kinda interesting, but I’m kinda bummed we didn’t see A movie Totally focused on John. 3 he was barely a cental figure, and Salvation focused too much on Marcus Wright.

I would have been seriously excited for this movie 20 years and 3 sequels ago.

But but, I thought Arnold was having a minor cameo role in the movie as confirmed by his 1 second appearance in the trailer???

This Arnie model arrives moments after Uncle Bob gets lowered into the steel. Then he goes into hiding with Sarah, south of the border.

Yeah, cause it's really hard these days to de-age someone. Especially Arnie, who's still got the bod.

@gulducati - say what you will about Genisys, but they did an incredible job remaking the original T-800. Flawless work.

@HeavyMetal4Life - Yes, I don't remember anything from that movie.

@Larebel24 - I like it the best of the three films that came after T2. Some stuff I don't like about it, but for the most part it was quite enjoyable and Old Arnie was freaking hilarious.
