The producer of Terminator Salvation believes that Christian Bale's temper tantrum and the film's PG-13 rating were factors in the movie under-performing at the box office.

TheArnoldFans.com was able to nab an interview with Terminator Salvation producer Victor Kubicek. In the summer of 2009 the fourth Terminator film was released, and with stars like Christian Bale, and Sam Worthington headlining the film most felt it was bound to be a hit, yet it was not. Victor stills stand by his film, and regrets that a few scenes ended up on the cutting room floor. He describes one such scene, "Imagine looking down on a verdant golf course surrounded by perfect homes and manicured lawns only to realize everything is synthetic and the people who live there are hybrids."

One of the issues with Salavation was that it was created under a PG-13 rating and not an R rating like the previous three films in the franchise. No one should make a film R rated just to get the rating, it should feel natural, but still the Terminator franchise isn't for small children. So when asked if the PG-13 rating hurt the film, Victor replied, "I think the PG-13 rating may have hurt the film but I guess we will never know. In hindsight, there are things I miss about the movie that didn’t end up on screen that would have certainly been prevalent in the R version of this story, but hey, you can’t go back in time, right?"

TheArnoldFans: Do you think the tantrum of Christian Bale (one of my all-time favorite Actors) had anything to do with the mediocre box office?

V.J.K: As for Christian Bale, I don’t think he quite did his personal best in this film and the tantrum was its own crazy thing that we should leave to him to explain. Did it turn off some people? Probably.

TheArnoldFans: How difficult was it to get Arnold onboard to lend his CG likeness? Roughly how many meetings, emails and calls did it take for Arnold to finally give in?

V.J.K: It was important to have Arnold in the film and he felt the same way. It wasn’t a protracted effort at all and from what I can recall he was very encouraging about it. He is this franchise in so many ways and we very much wanted to honor that. He was Governor at the time, but he always came through to support Terminator Salvation and is passionate about the franchise.
