That being said Nolan is a creative genius and does deserve kudos for his work.

I would love to see the day if Nolan decides to do a movie for Disney or Marvel Studios.......I wonder what the reaction would be?!

Do you guys think Nolan directed Batman as a stepping stone to launch his career, or was he truly passionate about the character? What are the chances of him choosing to do the Batman movies, in order to convince studios to let him do more of his own thing but with bigger budgets?

He just seems to be different from many of the Disney/Marvel directors, who either have a story they're dying to tell (Whedon and Ultron/Russo bros. and Winter Soldier/Gunn and GOTG), or personal connections with Marvel (Shane Black and RDJ), or simply fans of the comics, who want to make good movies with whatever character they can get their hands on (Jon Favreau and Iron Man/Peyton Reed and Ant-Man).

hes not a modern kuburik stop trying to say he is, his dialouge and pacing needs work and he has to do a movie outside his usual directoral zone/style to be considered a great but, all that said hes a talented director.

Nolan had yet to do a bad film?

How many directors can say that?

Interstellar was amazing when you consider that he both wrote AND directed it...

That script has so many layers, is so sophisticated, yet at the same time, entertaining..

Nolan is a cinematic genius..

Agreed kuburik was in a league of his own its kind of insulting to him when he gets all these nolan comparisons.

@ABetterTomorrow

Wow, that's a great piece of info, thanks. I like how he explains his take on Batman as "an extraordinary figure in an ordinary world". However, it seems like he cared more about the character's previous iterations in the movies, as opposed to his comic iterations.

@Chaud

I think he might have deviated or outright ignored the comic depictions of Batman and his world, because he focused more on Batman as a movie character. It's like the movies were made as a sort of "What if Batman comics never existed". That way, he could make Batman "his own" original character and do whatever he wants, and whatever it takes to make crime-thrillers that happen to have Batman in them. In a way, they are more Nolan-Man movies than Batman movies, which is one of the reasons why i question his motivation for making them.

@Maximus-I think Nolan took on Batman because the character of Wayne lends itself to a lot of the concepts Nolan likes to focus on in his films. The idea of faith, creating your own reality, philosophy, ideology etc etc...

@Ruhail-Nolan is JUST as talented a director as Kubrick. In certain areas he is even superior.

Nolan films definately have to scope and depth Kubrick had but are FAR more entertaining.

Interstellar and 2001 are similar in a lot of ways except Interstellar is more entertaining.

Pacing is one of Nolans strengths NOT weaknesses.

Let's compare the pacing in Interstellar to 2001.

Interstellar >>>>> 2001

Will never understand why it is so fashionable to hate on Nolan, Memento The Prestige and Inception are all amazing films, there is no one better at telling a non-linear story, plus the batman films are pretty damn good

Interstellar was one of my least favourite Nolan movies.

It was also one of my favourite movies of 2014.

Says a lot really. Quality filmmaker.
