I haven't seen After Earth yet so can't comment on it's quality (or lack thereof) but it does seem to me that critics like to pile on Shyamalan a little more than they might another director who'd delivered a similar flick -- but as I said, ain't seen it yet! Have any of you guys? Does it deserve all the backlash? Sound off below, and be sure to visits the Schmoes new site HERE.

The CGI in this movie is terrible...Shyamalan is not a bad director, his movies are usually fun to watch, the problem is that everyone still expects him to make a better movie than "The 6th Sense",that isn't going to happen...he has tried all these years and he hasn't succeeded yet.
He is all about the twists in his movies...but after a while it gets old.
This movie looks like probably a rental for me.

This review is coming from the same people who thought The Amazing Spider-Man was an "emotional drama".

That said, I think I'll dismiss their review of this film.

No surprise. Name one scene in the trailer that got you stoked. Will Smith's turbo-lame speech perhaps? Or the Battlefield Earth fx? Btw, Will Smith wrote this screenplay. 'Nuff said.

I stood by my opinion of M. Night as a director longer than I should have. At this rate, if he ever does a good movie again it will be purely by accident.

Watched it last night. Or I should say watched 40 minutes of it and walked out. Yes ... it WAS that bad.

First, have the Schmoes ever given a rating below 2? I have not seen one yet.

Second, I wasted money to see "Lady in the water", so there is no need to give M. Night Shyamalan any more of my money!

Most of these comments are not by people who have seen it so one negative comment from someone who has seen it does not do it for me. It just seems like a bashing page.

@rkshuttleworth - By no means am I saying that no one should watch. Everyone makes up their own mind. Just giving my personal feelings on the film. Some background, I liked 6th Sense, The Village and Unbreakable. His others were just meh. The Happening was quite possibly one of the worst movies I've ever scene that was intended to be a mainstream movie. I would place this movie closer to The Happening than the others.

@SpectacularJoShFest that's incorrect. people just want him to stop directing and writing screenplays. the only job he should do is creating trailers. he's real good at that. directing and screenwriting he sucks. his body of work speaks to that fact.

how he keeps getting work i have no idea.

Wait Will Smith wrote this? I wasn't going to see this but if the same genius who wrote such classics as "Parents just don't understand" and "Summertime" penned it, it must be a instant classic.

This movie looks bad, but Rotten Tomatoes doesn't know what it's talking about most of the time, 300 is at 64% on there
