VIDEO: The Schmoes Review DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES

In related news, The Schmoes have joined forces with Maria Menounos and Keven Undergaro to form a new movie podcast network, which will include comic book movie based shows. The network is set to debuts Aug. 1 with its first show “Meet the Movie Press,” followed by “Star Wars Cantina” on Aug. 4. Apparently their aim is to "serve as the Nerdist of movies." Get all the details HERE.

A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is directed by Matt Reeves (Cloverfield, Let Me In), from a screenplay written by Mark Bomback, Scott Z. Burns, Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver. The cast includes: Andy Serkis (The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey), Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty, Public Enemies, The Great Gatsby), Gary Oldman (The Dark Knight Rises, The Harry Potter film series), Keri Russell (The Americans, Mission Impossible III), Toby Kebbell (The Prince of Persia, Wrath of the Titans, Rock N Rolla), Kodi Smit-McPhee (Let Me In, ParaNorman), Enrique Murciano (Traffic, Black Hawk Down), Kirk Acevedo (The Thin Red Line) and Judy Greer (The Descendants, Three Kings, 13 Going on 30). The film hits theaters July 11, 2014

I hate the trend of doing video reviews. It's a pain in the ass to take 6 minutes and watch a review. Just type some shit up and give a rating of 1-5 stars.

I totally agree. I really do not want to watch a video of someone talking about a video. Ass backwards IMO.

Holy shit this summer has to be one of the best summers in this decade and possibly the 21st century. Almost all the big summer blockbusters have been massive critical successes. I'm also counting TWS. The only truly awful and horrendous film was TF. Other than that and TASM almost all the blockbusters have been near perfect. [frick]ing planet of the apes is at a 98% a [frick]ing 98%. Holy shit. That's amazing that's the best I've seen a movie do since forever. Wow, I'm almost positive I'll love the film but we'll see. Really looking forward to this.

Does comicbookmovie.com still sponsor them? If not why are we giving them views? Sure they're probably your friends, and I love their videos, but what is the gain for the website?

Every summer this happens, before the the summer films release, I'm anticipating certain films and in the end, my favorite movie of the summer is a movie I was really "meh" about before seeing it. I sense Dawn of the Planet of the apes will be my favorite movie this year.

Of all the movies to come out this year, this and Godzilla were the ones I was most looking forward to. I was dead set against the last Apes film. I was working at a movie theater and got to screen test the print before the mid night showing. Not even half way through, I was hooked. Turned out to be my favorite movie in 2011.
