Watch The First Five Minutes Of LOCKOUT

Roughly the first five minutes of the upcoming sci-fi actioner starring Guy Pearce have been posted online. Check out the opening scene from this very silly, but entertaining looking flick..

Lockout actually looks like something you would expect to see Jason Statham or Vin Diesel take the lead in and not Pearce's usual fare at all. Should that be a sign of quality? Who knows, but as cool as this looks I think it also has the potential to be a right stinker. See what you think..

A man wrongly convicted of conspiracy to commit espionage against the U.S. is offered his freedom if he can rescue the president's daughter from an outer space prison taken over by violent inmates.

The movie is written and directed by James Mather and Stephen St. Leger and produced by Luc Besson. It also stars Lost's Maggie Grace, Peter Stormare and Misfits actor Joe Gilgun. Lockout hits theaters April 20th.

When I first saw the trailer in the theater when they said only one man can save the President's daughter I thought they were going to say "Snake" Plissken. LOL I was kind of disappointed that is was not. But hey Guy Pearce is cool.

I liked the initial interrogation, and the fight in the apartment. Then all the jumping off buildings shit came along.

Besson and Pearce sounds like a winning combo to me. Looks like fun.

Could be fun.

Pearce has a lot more charisma than Statham or Diesel.

Awesome. I'm a big ass fan of cheesy movie, Be it Arnie or Van Dammit. This is right up my alley. If Bale would want to stay for future Bat films, Pearce could be his Hush.

i think it looks good, like he said this is something jason statham would have done. and i got to be honest having the same super muscle guy fighting 25 people at once gets a little old after awhile. just like any of the van damn movies....they're predicable.

but they took a guy that doesn't fight crazy hand to hand combat or look invincible or like he can bench press a car and put him into a action movie.

remember the 1st borne movie with matt damon ? he didn't fit the typical action movie bad ass type either but the movie(s) where great. i'm gonna give this one a chance.

oh guy pearce has done some great roles before ie, the count of monte cristo, LA confidential just to name a few. he was great.

Escape from Earth! Looks cool! Can't wait! Even if they took the unused Escape from script. Guy Pearce rocks! The Time Machine was great!

There were some great parts in this.

I'm taking a guess that this will be a little like 5th Element in that it will be parody of action thrillers, just as Element was a parody of sci-fi.

For those looking for realism, I think that is the point, you will see over the top non realism.

If you don't get the joke, that is fine. I didn't get the 5th element joke until the second time I watched the movie.

I'm actually looking forward for this movie, but some people said that it's just a typical "fun" movie, so that's what I'm going to expect...but, it looks pretty damn cool for that type. I'll still go see this.

So...This is a movie based on the aborted Escape From New York sequel with Plissken in space[allegedly]? Hmm...One thing's obvious: Guy Peatce has definitely been hitting the weights[and supplements...]

I'm going to see this , it looks chessy and cliche but I love that shit looks like fun . But I'm not expecting anything huge from this . Plus Guy Pearce is awesome and extremely talented .

I think Guy Pearce is awesome, and I used to love Luc Besson's movies (5th Element, Nikita, Leon...) but you can see how this quickly descends into utter stupidity.

Also, consider the plot. This isn't some space station full of scientists or rich people or what not... this is a legit prison. What the hell? What kind of government would condone spending that much money to maintain a facility for prisoners? What the hell is the President's daughter doing in space near this facility? Visiting someone? Why is Guy Pearce's character the only one the government decides to send?

I get it, it's not meant to be taken seriously, but why space? Why?

Jack on Purgatory is a whole 'nother can of worms. That exists in a universe where said biotic claims to have used a moon as a weapon. BTW, they fund Purgatory by extortion - if the planet doesn't pay up, they release the prisoner in an undisclosed location on that planet at an undisclosed time. Even then, space travel is the norm.

It's just so random, except when I saw the trailer in the theater, I thought of two things: Resident Evil 4 and Mass Effect 2. I completely missed out on Twilight Zone, though I've always been tempted to renew my Netflix subscription and watch it.

You would think there would be easier alternatives on Earth. Underground.... or underground in a desert, for example.

I've always liked Luc Besson's work, a producer, writer or director. He seems to have a knack for turning really basic (often generic ideas and characters) into something that's at least entertaining.
