SHANG-CHI AND THE LEGEND OF THE TEN RINGS TV Spot Sees The Hero Explaining How To Pronounce His Name

The latest TV spot for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings features even more awesome footage from the Marvel Studios movie, but also helps clear up how the title hero's name should be pronounced!

What If...? may have launched on Disney+ today, but it's worth noting that Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is now just weeks away from arriving in theaters.

Screenings are expected to begin taking place over the next couple of weeks, and Marvel Studios has now shared another TV spot for the movie. This one shows more of Shang-Chi wielding the Ten Rings, and it's looking a lot like that will be the source of the hero's powers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Crucially, there's also a scene at the end of this sneak peek which sees Shang-Chi explaining to Katy how his name is pronounced. Simu Liu has brought this up on Twitter a few times now, but after decades of uncertainty among comic book readers, it's good to hear the official version here!

Check out this TV spot for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings below:

"Marvel Studios' 'Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings' stars Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, who must confront the past he thought he left behind when he is drawn into the web of the mysterious Ten Rings organization," reads a brief synopsis shared by Marvel Studios a couple of months ago.

The movie also stars Tony Leung as Wenwu, Awkwafina as Shang-Chi’s friend Katy and Michelle Yeoh as Jiang Nan, as well as Fala Chen, Meng’er Zhang, Florian Munteanu and Ronny Chieng. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton from a screenplay by David Callahan, Destin Daniel Cretton, and Andrew Lanham the movie is currently set to be released exclusively in theaters on September 3, 2021.

I am soooooo pumped for this, and it's most likely going to get me back to the movies ( as much as I don't want to).

Kind of a random question, but when do we think we get reviews for this? Isn't it usually like 2 weeks before opening if the studio trusts it? I always, always forget.

@Menks123 - 1 or 2 weeks is about right. It varies but you mostly just have problems if it's like the day before.

You see this is what I'm talking about with representation. No race swapping here, and it allows for different influences from different cultures.

GREAT NEWS IS

The release date of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings on Disney Plus is approximately October 18, 2021.

45 days after Shang-Chi’s theatrical release date in the US of September 3.

@DoubleD - that I can get behind. Credit where credit is due, they did learn from their mistakes.

@DoubleD - Great news for who?

It's quite possible with a lesser known property like Shang Chi it might be facing a little box office uphill battle to begin with. Throw in the delta variant and it could be a scant viewing audience that might just wait that short 45 days to see it on D+, compounding the hurt to the bottom line. I will be and they just lost out on my $30 and many others.

That's assuming it hits D+ because I've only seen one place claim that date, and it ain't Marvel. BW isn't headed there until almost day 100 on Oct 6 and if that holds true for Shang Chi, we're looking at just before Christmas.

I'm not paying $30 for something that'll be free in a month. Black Widow will be available around that time, too, for those who haven't seen it.

@DoubleD - I'll eat my phone for dinner if Shang Chi drops on D+ within a week of 18 October 2021.

@DoubleD - if I pay £20 for this on Disney Plus, presumably Disney gets the whole £20.

But if I go to the cinema and pay only £10 to watch it, Disney gets what, 50% of that £10? Less?

@528491 -

You have to take into account. Repeat viewing as well as no praicy if it doesn't go on Disney plus

@MikeDrop1 - I know it's not ideal, but it may be the reality. People may want to brace themselves for this being the first MCU financial disaster.

I mean, I'm sure they'll make their money back, but there's so much stacked against it right now.

Let em drop it on Oct 18 for free and you can bet you'll see a new simultaneous release strategy pop up for The Eternals.
