SHAZAM! FURY OF THE GODS - Meet Steve The Pen In Funny New Clip From DC Comics Sequel

Shazam! Fury of the Gods is set to fly into theaters this weekend (check back later for our review), and Warner Bros. Ireland has now shared a funny new clip from David F. Sandberg's DC Comics sequel.

When Billy Batson needs to get a message to the Daughters of Atlas, Eugene - who has been mapping out the infinite corridors - introduces him to Steve, a magical pen who will write down the answer to any question he's asked.

Billy decides to use him to transcribe the letter, but doesn't realize that Steve is writing down every word he and the other members of the Shazam Family are saying.

We then see a baffled Hespera reading the letter to her sisters.

Bestowed with the powers of the gods, Billy Batson and his fellow foster kids are still learning how to juggle teenage life with having adult Super Hero alter-egos. But when the Daughters of Atlas, a vengeful trio of ancient gods, arrive on Earth in search of the magic stolen from them long ago, Billy—aka Shazam—and his family are thrust into a battle for their superpowers, their lives, and the fate of their world.

From New Line Cinema comes Shazam! Fury of the Gods, which continues the story of teenage Billy Batson who, upon reciting the magic word “SHAZAM!,” is transformed into his adult Super Hero alter ego, Shazam.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods stars returning cast members Zachary Levi (Thor: Ragnarok) as Shazam; Asher Angel (Andi Mack) as Billy Batson; Jack Dylan Grazer (It Chapter Two) as Freddy Freeman; Adam Brody (Promising Young Woman) as Super Hero Freddy; Ross Butler (Raya and the Last Dragon) as Super Hero Eugene; Meagan Good (Day Shift) as Super Hero Darla; D.J. Cotrona (G.I. Joe: Retaliation) as Super Hero Pedro; Grace Caroline Currey (Annabelle: Creation) as Mary Bromfield / Super Hero Mary; Faithe Herman (This Is Us) as Darla Dudley; Ian Chen (A Dog’s Journey) as Eugene Choi; Jovan Armand (Second Chances) as Pedro Pena; Marta Milans (White Lines) as Rosa Vasquez; Cooper Andrews (The Walking Dead) as Victor Vasquez; with Djimon Hounsou (A Quiet Place Part II) as Wizard.

Joining the cast are Rachel Zegler (West Side Story), with Lucy Liu (Kung Fu Panda franchise) and Helen Mirren (F9: The Fast Saga).

The superhero sequel is set to hit theaters on March 17, 2023.

Ngl that was a good scene. Helen’s killing it.

@PlusUltra - Agree with both statements. This looks to have all the same charm as the first one.

Levi always seems like he’s playing Billy way more immature than he actually is

@GhostDog - that’s probably because he absolutely is. Blame David F. Sandberg.

@GhostDog - This is why I don't like the original. Whenever I have read Shazam in a comic book, when he's a boy he talks and acts like a child but as adult he acts like an adult.

Hence why he has the wisdom of Solomon.

@GhostDog - Yep.. this was one of my biggest gripes. Billy is about to turn 18 in this movie, and just acts like any other guy that age... until he says Shazam and turns into a hyperactive halfwit.

@RorMachine - yup this was evident too in the first film as well. Billy is an immensely mature teen who’s been ripened by a rough life. Then he turns into Shazam and becomes a goofy idiot.

@marvel72 - agreed. There’s no consistency between the actors and their performances. Shazam is a goofball and Billy is a very mature young man

@TheLobster - yea idk if Levi has a mature, dramatic turn in his repertoire

@GhostDog - I’d said it once I’ll say it again, the actor who played Freddie should’ve been Billy. Levi tone it down a bit.

@Arthorious - that would be an upgrade for sure

@Spawnnn - Superhero fatigue is real. I imagine that more CBMs - like The Marvels, Blue Beetle, and Kraven - will all perform poorly as well.

Was never a big follower of this character but I kind of wish Shazam was the only superhero in these Shazam movies..

When superhero fatigue is becoming a problem I dont think a movie with 10 of the same superhero was a wise move but i'm just talking
