Shazam! Fury of the Gods will arrive on Digital starting tomorrow, Friday, April 7. The sequel will then hit 4K, Blu-ray, and DVD on Tuesday, May 23.
Along with a Director's Commentary from filmmaker David F. Sandberg, the Shazam! sequel comes bundled with a number of featurettes.
Those will include:
- Shazam! Let's Make a Sequel
- The Rock of Eternity: Decked Out
- The Shazamily Reunion
- The Zac Effect
- The Sisterhood of the Daughters of Atlas
- Pay By Play: Scene Breakdown
- The Mythology of Shazam!
The site also confirms that we're getting a number of deleted, alternate, and extended scenes, but don't share any specifics. Sandberg has already teased a few of those on social media and we're not anticipating anything too major like cut cameos or a reference to the events of Black Adam.
The fact this movie is already coming to Digital strongly suggests Warner Bros. has given up on it ever becoming a box office hit, a bad sign when it's made a mere $120 million worldwide since being released.
"Despite lacking so much of what made Shazam! great, there’s plenty of fun to be had with Shazam! Fury of the Gods, a movie that serves as a reminder the DCEU wasn’t all bad," we said in our review. "It’s just a shame it never quite manages to electrify us in the same way as its predecessor."
Shazam! Fury of the Gods continues the story of teenage Billy Batson who, upon reciting the magic word "SHAZAM!," is transformed into his adult Super Hero alter ego, Shazam.
The sequel's cast includes Zachary Levi as Shazam, Asher Angel as Billy Batson, Jack Dylan Grazer as Freddy Freeman, Adam Brody as Super Hero Freddy, Ross Butler as Super Hero Eugene, Meagan Good as Super Hero Darla, D.J. Cotrona as Super Hero Pedro, Grace Caroline Currey as Mary Bromfield/Super Hero Mary.
Djimon Hounsou returns as the Wizard, while Rachel Zegler, Lucy Liu, and Helen Mirren are all part of the movie as newly created villains, the Daughters of Atlas.
