Shazam! Fury of the Gods arrives on Blu-ray and DVD tomorrow, and the first deleted scene (via CBR) has been released online.
In this unfinished sequence, Billy Batson (Zachary Levi) distracts Kalypso (Lucy Liu) by pretending to eat the magical golden apple, before tossing it to Mary Marvel (Grace Caroline Currey). The hero takes to the skies with the apple, but is pursued by the vengeful Daughter of Atlas on her dragon, Ladon, who unleashes a blast and robs Mary of her powers.
It's a decent enough action set piece, but with so much already going on at this point in the sequel, it's easy to understand why director David F. Sandberg chose to leave it out of the theatrical cut.
Fury of the Gods did not have a very successful run at the box office (to say the least), so Warner Bros./New Line will be hoping the movie finds a new lease of life on home release.
Bestowed with the powers of the gods, Billy Batson and his fellow foster kids are still learning how to juggle teenage life with having adult Super Hero alter-egos. But when the Daughters of Atlas, a vengeful trio of ancient gods, arrive on Earth in search of the magic stolen from them long ago, Billy—aka Shazam—and his family are thrust into a battle for their superpowers, their lives, and the fate of their world.
From New Line Cinema comes Shazam! Fury of the Gods, which continues the story of teenage Billy Batson who, upon reciting the magic word “SHAZAM!,” is transformed into his adult Super Hero alter ego, Shazam.
