SHAZAM! FURY OF THE GODS TV Spot Reveals An Unbelievable Amount Of Epic Dragon Action

A thrilling TV spot for Shazam! Fury of the Gods has been released, and it primarily focuses on the title character's clash with that massive dragon. Oh, and there's an obligatory Game of Thrones gag...

We recently learned that the next Shazam! Fury of the Gods trailer will be released before the end of the month, but to whet our appetites for that, Warner Bros. has just released a new international TV spot for the long-awaited sequel.

Primarily focusing on the title character's clash with that massive dragon, we see Billy Batson's superhero alter-ego fly into battle against the monster, cracking a Game of Thrones joke along the way (that's some solid brand synergy). The movie looks pretty epic, and a suitably action-packed follow-up to its 2019 predecessor.

Initially set for release on December 24, 2022, the Shazam! sequel was among a number of DC movies pushed into 2023 by Warner Bros. amid cost-cutting measures last year. There's a lot of uncertainty surrounding the franchise's future under the purview of DC Studios, and while Peter Safran produces these movies, that doesn't necessarily mean they're safe.

Dwayne Johnson's Black Adam has already been sidelined, but if Shazam sticks around, it will be clear which magically charged superhero is the priority in the new DCU.

Check out this new Shazam! Fury of the Gods TV spot below, and stay tuned for that trailer the second it drops!

Shazam! Fury of the Gods continues the story of teenage Billy Batson who, upon reciting the magic word "SHAZAM!," is transformed into his adult Super Hero alter ego, Shazam.

The sequel's cast includes Zachary Levi as Shazam, Asher Angel as Billy Batson, Jack Dylan Grazer as Freddy Freeman, Adam Brody as Super Hero Freddy, Ross Butler as Super Hero Eugene, Meagan Good as Super Hero Darla, D.J. Cotrona as Super Hero Pedro, Grace Caroline Currey as Mary Bromfield/Super Hero Mary.

Djimon Hounsou returns as the Wizard, while Rachel Zegler, Lucy Liu, and Helen Mirren have all joined the movie as newly created villains.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods is set to be released on March 17, 2023.

they upped the budget from the first one but are somehow giving it even less marketing lol. movie could be good but i can’t imagine it being a hit at all

@tmp3 - It's still low enough that it will probably be considered successful if it does even slightly better than Black Adam.

Will it though? First movie did only $366.1 million. Worldwide total. And this movie looks like a massive drop in quality. And also has less marketing, as you pointed out.

If this movie is as bad and disposable as it might be based on what we've seen and heard, this is gonna be a real train wreck.

This might actually be worth watching.

I know they are starting the DCU from scratch, but I hope they at least keep Levi as Shazam (and Gal Gadot as WW)

I like dragons and I like Shazam. I see this as an absolute win

@bkmeijer1 - First one was really fun even though I have never been a fan of the character. It sold me on this iteration of the him the same way Phase 1 did with Marvel characters I largely didn't give a f*ck about before. If they can keep the same tone and balance while still telling a fun story I'm in as long as they want to crank these out, even if they do end up as Elseworlds stories as far as the mainline DCU goes.

I feel there's room for creatives to play within the new structure of DC Studios, granted it still remains to be seen how things fall but as of now we've got two Elseworlds stories going on in The Batman and Joker. If they keep Shazam on his own (which I think they should right now) that's 3. If Peacemaker stays that's potentially 4 with that keeping Snyders setup as it's own Elseworlds Universe. I think there's PLENTY of room for these things to all exist.

I honestly think that Gunn/Safran are going to let directors and actors play around as long as they have a solid foundation when the pitch is made.

@Deklipz - I enjoyed the first one a lot too. And I was happy to, since I already was a big fan of the character (Shazam's definitely in the top 5 superheroes for me).

As for his future though, I'm not sure. But if we don't get more of these versions, I don't mind.

I like Gunn's & Safran's DC stuff so far, so I trust them enough to makre more enjoyable stuff. Even if they start over.

colorful, fun, and full of heart.

What the DCU needs to be. Yes, even for DCU's version of Batman and Robin.

@JFerguson - Yes, what Superman, Booster Gold, Adam Strange, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman and every other character in the DCU needs to be. Except Batman, who needs to be dark, mysterious and thought provoking.

Villains that no one cares about with a generic story will put this at $300 million or less. I think.

@GeneralZod -

WB is gonna have a rough 2 years.

Between 2023 and 24, there are only 4 guaranteed hits:

Joker 2, dune 2, mad max and Godzilla vs kong

The rest are gambles😐
