A new TV spot for Shazam! Fury of the Gods features a big Game of Thrones gag amid heaps of dragon action, along with some excited teases about what's to come in the long-awaited sequel to 2019's Shazam!

A new TV spot for Shazam! Fury of the Gods aired during last night's Grammy Awards, and it features even more action-packed footage from 2023's first DC movie.

Focusing mostly on the title character's clash with that massive dragon, we see Billy Batson's superhero alter-ego fly into battle against the monster, cracking a Game of Thrones joke along the way. A "Khaleesi" mention feels a little outdated, but the sequel has been hit by several release date delays.

Shooting started in early 2021, and while the movie was brought forward to December 24, 2022, at one stage, the Shazam! follow-up was among a number of DC movies pushed into 2023 by Warner Bros. amid cost-cutting measures last year.

Following last week's DCU slate reveal, we're no closer to knowing what the future holds in store for Shazam under DC Studios' watch. If Fury of the Gods is a massive hit, the magically charged superhero could be here to stay...otherwise, he may well head the same way as Dwayne Johnson's Black Adam!

Check out this new TV spot in the Tweet below.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods continues the story of teenage Billy Batson who, upon reciting the magic word "SHAZAM!," is transformed into his adult Super Hero alter ego, Shazam.

Bestowed with the powers of the gods, Billy Batson and his fellow foster kids are still learning how to juggle teenage life with having adult Super Hero alter-egos. But when the Daughters of Atlas, a vengeful trio of ancient gods, arrive on Earth in search of the magic stolen from them long ago, Billy - aka Shazam - and his family are thrust into a battle for their superpowers, their lives, and the fate of their world.

The sequel's cast includes Zachary Levi as Shazam, Asher Angel as Billy Batson, Jack Dylan Grazer as Freddy Freeman, Adam Brody as Super Hero Freddy, Ross Butler as Super Hero Eugene, Meagan Good as Super Hero Darla, D.J. Cotrona as Super Hero Pedro, Grace Caroline Currey as Mary Bromfield/Super Hero Mary.

Djimon Hounsou returns as the Wizard, while Rachel Zegler, Lucy Liu, and Helen Mirren have all joined the movie as newly created villains.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods is set to be released on March 17, 2023.
