SHAZAM: Ron Cephas Jones Is Reportedly In Talks To Portray The Wizard
Ron Cephas Jones, best known for roles on Marvel's Luke Cage and This Is Us, is in talks to portray "The Wizard" in WB and director David F. Sandberg's Shazam, aka Captain Marvel, live-action adaptation.
As filmings draw closer to beginning on the next chapter in the DC Film Universe, the supporting cast for Shazam continues to fill out. The latest news from The Wrap pegs Ron Cephas Jones as the actor of choice to portray The Wizard, the wizened old figure at the Rock of Eternity who bestows Billy Batson with awesome, mythological powers.
Shazam is scheduled to begin filming next month and is currently slated for an April 5, 2019, release date.
The leads for the superhero feature film includes Asher Angel as a teenage Billy Batson, Zachary Levi as his musclebound alter ego Shazam, and Mark Strong as the villainous Doctor Sivana.
The full Marvel family is also slated to appear, with Grace Fulton portraying Mary Bromfield aka Mary Marvel, Jack Dylan Grazer set to portray Freddy Freeman aka Captain Marvel Jr. and Ian Chen and Jovan Armand rounding out Billy's additional foster family as Eugene Choi and Pedro Peña, respectively.
