Stan Lee Really Wants To See A SILVER SURFER Movie; Reveals His Favorite MCU Cameo
Out of his many MCU cameos, does Stan Lee have a personal favorite? Plus, the founding father of Marvel names Silver Surfer as the one character he most wants to see receive a film adaptation.
Despite the recent loss of his wife Joan, Stan Lee continues to soldier on and will be the guest of honor on August 22 at Extraordinary: Stan Lee in Beverly Hills, CA. Ahead of the event, Lee spoke with SYFY Wire about his cameos in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the one character among his many creations that he hopes to see receive their own film one day. On the latter subject, Lee quickly named the Silver Surfer as the Marvel character he'd most like to see receive their own film. "He’s the one I want to see more. He’s the most philosophical of all the characters I’ve ever worked on. And I have an idea for my cameo in that one!"
As far as his favorite MCU cameo goes, the scene between he and Chris Hemsworth's Thor in Avengers: Age of Ultron stands out the most.
"Oh yeah, my favorite is when I’m drinking with Thor in the second Avengers movie. When I was with him at the bar and he was drinking a strong drink from Asgard. And I told him, ‘Hey, let me have a sip. And he says, 'No, it’s too strong for you.' I’m like, 'C’mon!' So I take a sip, and the next scene, they’re carrying me out. The reason that one is my favorite of the ones I’ve done is that it’s the one cameo I’ve done that has two scenes. I figure that’s making me more of an actor. Pretty soon I’ll have three scenes then I’ll have four, and before you know it, I’ll be starring in a movie.”
Hopefully Stan gets his wish granted although it's anyone's guess what Fox currently has planned for the Surfer and Galactus. While Lee appears to be in good spirits and sound mind, he reaffirmed his mortality with the acknowledgement that he can no longer read comics because of his failing eyesight. Perhaps Marvel Studios has something up their sleeve for Avengers: Infinity War?
