SILVER SURFER Series From FANTASTIC FOUR Director Matt Shakman Rumored To Be In Development

Another very interesting rumor here, this time relating to a potential deal Fantastic Four director Matt Shakman may have signed with Marvel Studios - which could include a Silver Surfer series!

This isn't the first (and probably won't be the last) time we've heard a rumor relating to the Silver Surfer, but it sounds like something is finally moving forward at Marvel Studios.

According to Jeff Sneider on the latest episode of The Hot Mic, Fantastic Four director Matt Shakman has signed a new multi-year deal with Marvel that could potentially include helming episodes of the upcoming Vision Quest Disney+ show, and executive producing a Silver Surfer series.

Details are sparse at this early stage, but Sneider believes that the studio is keen to develop the project.

A previous rumor suggested that a "Special Presentation" revolving around the Sentinel of the Spaceways was in development and was scheduled to release before the FF movie so that the character could be part of the reboot, but it was seemingly debunked shortly after.

Speaking of Marvel's First Family, Sneider has also heard that Marvel Studios is looking to cast a Jewish actor as Ben Grimm, aka The Thing (which would be in-keeping with the character's comic book origin).

We assumed the studio would get to the Surfer eventually, so this isn't particularly surprising, but probably best not to get our hopes up just yet. Even if this is something that's in the early planning stages, it may not come to fruition.

@RorMachine - The 80s theme plumber commercial was the only trailer the movie needed.

Silver Surfer on the budget of shows that really only live up to the promise of movie level effects and action in the first and last episode would be terrible.

Silver Surfer himself cant be created under those circumstances

How bout he finish Fantastic Four before developing a new series???

Like you know, that film that’s been in development for a long time, gestating in the minds of fans? The one who allegedly is still being cast? The one that requires work to be done to not be in the current slump Marvel is in?

If this BS is true, Fiege, you’re over stuffed as it is, don’t over stuff your filmmakers, especially for a spin off to something that’s not even in front of a camera yet.

Stupid, if true. Getting seriously annoyed having to have Disney+ to keep up with the MCU. Norrin deserves either a solo movie and then a movie with the Fantastic Four or just him in a Fantastic Four movie. I can only imagine how sh!tty the quality will be if there is a SS show on D+. Disney has ruined enough of my favorite Marvel characters.

@OriginalGusto1 - True. Just a little nervous the way Disney is handling these characters. Super nervous about the X-Men too, whenever that becomes a thing in the MCU.

@Humperdoo - Don't be nervous. Just give up. I have.

I remember Fox was trying to green light a series in response to Tranktastic being a disaster but resulted in Marvel getting the rights
