This isn't the first (and probably won't be the last) time we've heard a rumor relating to the Silver Surfer, but it sounds like something is finally moving forward at Marvel Studios.
According to Jeff Sneider on the latest episode of The Hot Mic, Fantastic Four director Matt Shakman has signed a new multi-year deal with Marvel that could potentially include helming episodes of the upcoming Vision Quest Disney+ show, and executive producing a Silver Surfer series.
Details are sparse at this early stage, but Sneider believes that the studio is keen to develop the project.
A previous rumor suggested that a "Special Presentation" revolving around the Sentinel of the Spaceways was in development and was scheduled to release before the FF movie so that the character could be part of the reboot, but it was seemingly debunked shortly after.
Speaking of Marvel's First Family, Sneider has also heard that Marvel Studios is looking to cast a Jewish actor as Ben Grimm, aka The Thing (which would be in-keeping with the character's comic book origin).
We assumed the studio would get to the Surfer eventually, so this isn't particularly surprising, but probably best not to get our hopes up just yet. Even if this is something that's in the early planning stages, it may not come to fruition.
