C'MON TODD!! Here is my thoughts on the remake of Image comics most popular character and only well known character, Spawn.

I'll admit, I've never read a Spawn comic in my entire life. So I don't know how close the original movie is to the comics, so from the view of a casual movie goer, I found the film to be a fun, entertaining movie. I also found the Spawn hero to be very interesting and some what unique.

When Todd McFarlane announced a remake I wasn't too disappointed because I knew it was coming when the movie never had a true sequel. Also I like Todd's vision where instead of the pov being on Spawn, it's from the Police tracking him down. Which is different and unique for a comicbook movie. I don't think how it's gonna work as a horror movie but hopefully this movie gets the ball rolling. I love Todd, I think he's one of the best artists in comics (my personal favorite), he's a good buisness man and I have respect for him. But he's getting lazy. I personally think of Spawn as a Image's own take of Ghost Rider in some sense while the eyes are from Spider-Man. But I think Spawn is one of the cooler superheros and I feel he deserves movie magic seeing how his movie is about as remembered as Super Mario Bros. which is a movie I refuse to see. I don't think he'll have Spider-Man or Batman success but I feel he can have some sort of success. But seeing how there really isn't much news, I can't say a whole lot.

Comment with your thoughts for what all I can say about this movie.

I would love to see a really good Spawn movie as well, I think the whole focusing on the cops tracking him down thing could be interesting, but I personally think it should have the feel of the animated series and the early comics from the 90s. But will we ever get another Spawn movie? Only time will tell.

The problem is, he wants it so Spawn is barely seen in the movie and has no speaking lines. He compares him to the shark from Jaws, in that he's more of a driving force that no one really gets a good look at. To paraphrase, he'll show snippets, like a bit of chain or cape going around a corner, and that's all.
Although, you get a damn good look at the shark at the end of the movie, so maybe he'll show Spawn in all his brutal glory at the end. That'd actually make the build up worth it.
Unfortunately, he's taking his sweet time with the script.

Spawn is one of the most Underrated comic book characters ever. Is movie was good for the time it was released, but with technology in CGI the way it is, it could definitely be a badass film. Just get the right production team into the mix and you'll have a movie version of Spawn as he should be.

spawn is an average movie, but i think at the time i thought it was better than it actually was.

they got a couple of things right i.e character designs(apart from chapel)& spawn with machine guns.

they really need to base it more on the comic or the animated series, which i think is up there with batman the animated series & x-men the animated series of the 90s.

I didn't hate the first movie excepts for John Leguizamo he was freaking annoying. Michael Jae White was good as Spawn tho. They should make a cooler movie without the cheese.

@SUPERBATSPIDERMAN: Michael Jai White was a good Al Simmons/Spawn. I hope they can find someone as good in the remake.

@bgg1175: I agree for the most part. I think it would be extremely difficult to do with The Punisher and Spawn because of the factor they basically lose everything in the first act. But coming from a GR fan, it would be easy to make a Ghost Rider film with the building drama. I am actually writing a Ghost Rider remake and I know what needs to be changed and what doesn't and it's possible to get around it without changing the origin and story for him. Punisher and Spawn you're more than likely right about. P.s: If you speak of the original Halloween and not the 2007 remake, then you're high

@bgg1175: I personally think Rob Zombie's Halloween remake is the best one of the franchise.

@bgg1175:The only old horror movie to watch that I felt should've been a classic is John Carpenter's Prince of Darkness. That is a true horror movie, that had me scared and movies don't ever scare me ever. But that was a first, plus it was a decent movie. I know I'm gonna be called crazy because it's based off of a book but, when I think brilliance I look at my absolute favorite movie, a true Classic. Steven Spielberg's Jurrasic Park. As far as looking at brilliant film making with an original story, I look no further than Neveldine/Taylor's feature film writing and directing debut, Crank. It was unique and different and had an original story. Yea the characters weren't fleshed out but I don't think every brilliant movie has to be 2 or more hours. Crank was pure adreneline fun, to me Neveldine/Taylor is an aqquired taste of film. Gamer is the same way with the same writer and director.

so, you've never read a Spawn comic, but you love Todd because ¨he's one of the best artists in comics¨, but you never actually read one... And, yes, the movie sucked. Big time. It's an insult to the series/comics. oh btw, Spawn is neither cool nor superhero, he's a [frick]ing badass and what people call an antihero... just saying
