SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME Producer Confirms That Sony Still Has Plans For BLACK CAT

Silver & Black fell apart, but according to Spider-Man: Far From Home producer Amy Pascal, there are indeed plans still in place for Felicia Hardy/Black Cat on the big screen. Hit the jump for details...

Black Cat and Silver Sable were going to be paired up in their own movie (Silver & Black), but plans for that fell apart and we later heard that each character would receive their own solo adventure alongside another obscure female superhero from Spider-Man's world called Jackpot.

Well, it's been a long time since we've heard anything about that, but during a recent interview to promote Spider-Man: Far From Home, producer Amy Pascal provided an update of sorts.

"I like Black Cat a lot, I think she is a really great character," she said. "We had her a little bit in the Amazing [Spider-Man] movie, but she's kind of that character that we didn't really turn into the Black Cat yet. I think that's a really great character." As for what comes next, all she said was, "We're still working on that. I think we have plans for that."

Venom was a huge success for Sony Pictures and the studio now seems to be going full steam ahead with more spinoff movies. It's hard to know what to make of Pascal's remarks, though, as she may be referring to the character eventually joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe as part of that franchise, or that long rumoured solo movie.

Which of those scenarios would you prefer?

Stealth Suit from Spider-Man: Far From Home!

Based on what we've seen in the trailers, we know that Peter Parker will don this costume in Prague when Molten Man rises from the grounds and attempts to destroy some sort of carnival.

Just how successful Peter will be at hiding his identity remains to be seen; after all, if he's swinging around the place shooting webs, there's a good chance people will realise it's Spider-Man!

Apparently, this somewhat goofy mask was given to the web-slinger because director Jon Watts was conscious of him looking too cool in this stealth suit. Honestly, though, those goggles rock!

When we first caught a glimpse of this suit on set, most of us assumed that the circular logo would be filled either with the S.H.I.E.L.D. insignia or Spider-Man's recognisable logo.

Well, it turns out that it's blank which is definitely something of a shame all things considered. The again, S.H.I.E.L.D. technically no longer exists and we don't know what Fury is in charge of now.

The former S.H.I.E.L.D. Director was, of course, among the snapped and that means he's been out of the loop for the past five years. That might explain why he recruits the likes of Spidey and Mysterio.

Molten Man certainly looks a lot different to his comic book counterpart but Watts has said that these Elementals are just inspired by them and not the same people (Morris Bench, Mark Raxton, etc.).

Regardless of where the inspiration came from, there's no denying that the MCU's Molten Man looks awesome and this was actually a clever way to include one of Spider-Man's C-List bad guys.

From what Sony has shown off from this battle, it definitely seems like it will be a standout moment and pitting Spider-Man against a foe he can't web up or punch is obviously a unique move.

The detail on both the stand and figure is phenomenal and now Iron Man is dead and gone, it's easy to imagine Hot Toys making Spider-Man a focal point of future action figure releases.

After all, we know he's going to wear at least four costumes in the movie and while his classic suit has been revealed, there's been no sign of the Iron Spider and Advanced Suit as of yet.

Sophisticatedly crafted with striking likeness of Spider-Man’s appearance portrayed by Tom Holland in the movie, the figure features a newly developed masked head sculpt which exposes part of face.

It also comes with 3 pairs of interchangeable Spider-Man eye pieces to create numerous Spider-Man’s expressions and a newly tailored black stealth suit with a lot of very intricate details.

It goes without saying that the figure comes with a variety of spider-web shooting effect parts for dynamic poses, while the diorama figure base was designed by Studio HIVE for the Deluxe Version.

Inspired by the battle scenes against Molten Man in the upcoming sequel, this elaborated diorama figure base features 2 LED light up modes is absolutely a must-have for fans of Spider-Man.

Like all Hot Toys figures, we'll be waiting a while for this one to arrive and it's bound to boast a hefty price tag. However, if you're a collector, an argument could be made that it's worth it.

Image may contain: one or more people

We don't know whether the wall-crawler will wear this for a large chunk of the movie or just a couple of action scenes but it's quite a contrast to his previous looks and should be fun to see in motion.

Image may contain: one or more people

Of course, it's not exactly the black suit most fans wanted to see in this movie because there was a hope that the wall-crawler would come back from outer space with a new alien costume in tow.

Image may contain: fire, text and food

It should be worth paying extra for the deluxe version of the figure if this image is anything to go by and it's definitely a lot more spectacular than the normal bases these replicas come bundled with.

The Elementals are still shrouded in secrecy but during a recent interview, Jake Gyllenhaal revealed that he follows them through a portal from another Earth. The question is, should we believe him?

Whatever the truth may be, Molten Man looks fierce and Spider-Man will need all the help he can get to take the monster down. Something tells me that's where Mysterio is going to come in!

Not every f ucking Spider-Man character needs their own movie.
Certain characters work better as supporting characters when Spider-Man is the main character. Sony will never realize this, of course.

@ANewPope - We are talking about characters that have supported their own titles and have many, many, many adventures that don’t include Spider-man. This isn’t the Aunt May spin-off movie.

I wouldn't mind if Sony still has plans with the character, because I don't see how Black Cat could fit in with the MCU Spider-Man anyway

@MalseMarcel - I can see Black Cat with a modified version of the stealth suit and working for Silvermane. She works for Silvermane in exchange for him letting Walter Hardy free.

Does Amy actually have any responsibilities as producer? I think they just don't have the heart to fire her.

He THINKS they have plans for her, I don't see it happening if Holland only gets three Spidey movies, although one can dream 😍

It’s strange to me that after the successes of Venom, Wonder Woman, and Captain Marvel that Sony seemingly hasn’t gone full steam ahead on making Black Cat and/or Silver Sable movies.

OK, speaking of cats, Black Cats, Hellcats and all that, guys, I need to talk about Jessica Jones season 3.

Rotten Tomatoes score is 92% for season 1, then 82% for season 2, and finally 71% for season 3. Plenty of reviews are shitting on it, I've seen people here shit on it too, and say the ending was terrible, so I was expecting a disaster. I thought it was great. Not season 1 great, but very close. Apart from all the Hogarth lesbian drama that was horribly uninteresting and had nothing to do with the story, I liked everything else. I liked JJ, I liked the guy, I liked Malcolm, I even liked Trish who I hated by the end of season 2. That Sallinger psycho was good too, everyone acted top notch, they even redeemed the annoying and cringey mom, it was street-level, Costa seemed like a really good dude, and they didn't botch the ending with an unnecessary death or anything like that.

All in all, I thought it was very good. I don't really understand how people can think it was worse than the shitshow season 2 was. Oh, and I don't know if many realized it, but they even looped it with The Gifted at the end, which was really cool.

Sony need to f 0ff and stop making marvel movies, even more so any spiderman movies....besides cgi. If you keep taking all of spideys villains, giving them their own movies you are leaving the spiderman movies with no villians or some classic stories to tell. If they has even a tiny brain they would just make cgi spiderverse movies and leave the live action to marvel and just cut a deal, if we own the hero or villain we get a 50% cut or 30% cut of the gross. Make your money, do nothing!
TheUnworthyThor
TheUnworthyThor - 6/24/2019, 12:47 PM
@655321 - Seems unlikely. Into the Spider-verse and Venom both cost about the same to make but Venom made 855 million while Spider-verse made way less than half of that with 375 million (with much better reviews). It seems a no-brainer which type of movie to concentrate on.

Every spinoff movie they make focusing on a certain character decreases the pool of characters for them to use in Spider-Man movies. We're now not going to get Venom or any symbiotes for a long time and if they use Black Cat, you can bet we're not seeing her either.
