SPIDER-MAN Star Keith Silverstein Reflects On Playing Hammerhead And Ponders Possible Return (Exclusive)

Hammerhead made a major impact in The City That Never Sleeps DLC for Spider-Man, and actor Keith Silverstein has told us about that experience and whether he hopes to reprise the villainous role one day!

Interviews Opinion

The PlayStation-exclusive Spider-Man game saw the web-slinger face off with many of his most iconic comic book villains, and we got a bold new take on Hammerhead in The City That Never Sleeps DLC.

After unleashing gang warfare on the Big Apple, the villain's story ended with him more cyborg than man, and his story wrapped up in an explosive fashion when Silver Sable crashed her jet into him.

There's always a chance he could return, as that's a common occurrence in any comic book-related world. With Spider-Man 2 on the horizon, all we currently know is that Kraven the Hunter and Venom will be taking aim at Peter Parker and Miles Morales, so it's not yet possible to entirely rule out Hammerhead's resurrection.

Talking to us about his role as Kabal in Mortal Kombat Legends: Snow Blind, Hammerhead actor Keith Silverstein looked back at his unique time working on Spider-Man. The actor also addressed the possibility of reprising the role, though revealed that he'd love to be part of a future Daredevil project as the Man Without Fear is his favourite superhero.

Check out what he had to tell us about in the excerpt below:

I’m a big Spider-Man fan, so was wondering what it was like to become Hammerhead for that awesome epilogue to the game?

It was really unbelievable. It stands out because it was very different. We were doing mo-cap for that. It was very, very different. I’ve done very little of that. This was facial capture and then we had another actor who was the physical form and body. We had to mimic each other and figure out if Spider-Man was going to hit us with a right, left, right, I had to move my head the same way he was reacting with his body! We had to do that together in a big room with all the actors. I

found blocking it out and planning it was very different for me and super cool. It was a learning experience too, to be honest. You could see how professional everyone else was as they were like, ‘We know this. We’ve been doing this forever.’ [Laughs] By the time I came on, they’d been working on that game for two or three months. Probably more. It was really fun to watch them, especially the mo-cap artists. They’re just incredible.

I know things ended badly for him, but do you think there’s a chance we could see more Hammerhead from you down the line?

[Laughs] Listen, I would love to return as Hammerhead in any incarnation. He was such a fun character to play and larger than life. It was a dream character. I’m a big Marvel fan. Daredevil is my favourite ever character Marvel-wise, but I’m so happy anytime I get to dip my toes into that universe.

Mortal Kombat Legends: Snow Blind will be released on Digital platforms and Blu-ray on October 11.
