With Spider-Man finally swinging into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, I decided to make one of these, let me know what you think in the comments!!

1.  Norman Osborn/Green Goblin

The best portrayal of Norman Osborn so far has been by Willem Dafoe (Spider-Man, 2002).  Dafoe was great but there are still so many aspects of Norman Osborn that have never been seen on film.  I want to see the Green Goblin again too, but Norman Osborn must be established and have a presence in the upcoming Spider-Man movies and in the MCU in general.  Amongst his many qualities, Osborn is extremely manipulative, and I want this to be believable.  I want to see Osborn as the head of a company that people respect in many ways and have Osborn be a name that you can trust, but behind the scenes Osborn is completely crazy, and obsessed with Spider-Man.  Obviously, I also want Osborn’s arc in the movies to lead into “Dark Reign”.

2.  Peter Parker

I got 99 problems and money is one.  I think one of the advantages to Marvel casting Parker so young is that we can finally see Peter Parker done justice.  I want to see a Peter Parker that finds a way to get to get through the day despite the fact that he is struggling to keep it together both financially and emotionally, the underdog.  I want the movie to show us the definition of “Parker Luck”.  I want to feel like he’s really struggling to get by and at the same time, he’s fighting to protect the people as Spider-Man.  They’ve touched on this in the other movies, but I want this to be a more realistic and believable take on Parker, because Parker’s story is cinematic gold.  He is one of the most relatable characters in comics and I have faith that Marvel will bring that to the big screen.

3.  Betty Brant/Gwen Stacy/Mary Jane Watson

The ladies.  I don’t want the stories to rely on Parker/Spider-Man’s relationships but I do think that they should have a presence.  Brant, Stacy, and Watson should all make an appearance eventually, and I think the Brant/Daily Bugle connection is cool and could play really well into the stories.  It would be cool to see Parker starting a relationship with Betty Brant after she dropped out of high school and took a job as J. Jonah Jameson’s secretary.   Personally, I also would love to see the death of Gwen done right someday, but not until her character is established and hopefully we won’t see it coming.

4.  Daily Bugle and JJJ

Something that was sorely missed from TASM franchise, I want The Daily Bugle.  The Bugle needs to be a major part of the movies and it needs to be established from the start.  Joe “Robbie” Robertson must make an appearance.  In the words of J. Jonah Jameson, “Parker!!”

5.  Jean DeWolff/Norah Winters/Cletus Kasady

Jean DeWolff was an awesome suggestion by DrDoom, check out DrDoom’s Top Ten list click here.  In “The Death of Jean DeWolff” comic arc, Peter Parker (Spider-Man) hunts down the person who murdered police captain Jean DeWolff, one of his closest friends.  In the arc, Matt Murdock (Daredevil) also makes an appearance and there is a really cool mystery vibe to the comic as Spider-Man is trying to piece everything together.

I think adding Jean DeWolff as a character would also be a good way of introducing Cletus Kasady to the movies.  Having DeWolff be a friend to Parker while he’s growing up would be cool, and then later having DeWolff arrest Kasady or having Kasady murder DeWolff could make for some really intense scenes.  Having DeWolff catch Kasady and put him in jail, could work well, and lead into Carnage’s origin.  I feel like Kasady would translate really well to the big screen.

Another character that would fit is Norah Winters.  Norah is a young reporter at the Daily Bugle and her first assignment was with Peter Parker.  Norah and Parker had numerous assignments together, one of them was to expose Norman Osborn as the villain he was during his reign of power in the events of Dark Reign.  Winters was sneaky, one cool scene in the comics was when she flirted with a male receptionist at Norman Osborn's headquarters so that Peter could sneak inside Norman's building.  She also interviewed Osborn.  Norah could be a really cool character in the movies, and not only tie into Dark Reign but it would give Parker someone else to play off, and Winters could be connected to DeWolff and the Bugle.  I think that would be a cool connection, DeWolff finds some clues leading to Kasady, Winters jumps on it, and then the Daily Bugle tells the story to the world.  It would also really play into how Spider-Man often looks like a villain in the public eye, seeing Winters talking about Spider-Man and Parker defending him.

6.  Clones

Again, eventually, I want to see “The Death of Gwen Stacy” done right on the big screen.  With that said, The Clone Saga would be the aftermath.  The “Clone Saga” is such a crazy, mind **** of a story but I think it could definitely find it’s place on screen.  Again, this would be risky and hard to translate to the big screen but I think if someone really knew the material, it could make for an awesome adaptation.   Also, after watching "Orphan Black" , with the right cast, clones would be amazing, but extremely hard to pull off and fit into a movie universe.

7.  Rogue Galley

I’m not going to spend a lot of time here, because everybody wants to see this….  In no particular order, I want to see these guys and more, and I also hope we see these guys to show up in the larger MCU

·      Doctor Octopus
·      Green Goblin
·      Kraven The Hunter
·      Alistair Smythe
·      Chameleon
·      Mysterio
·      Vulture
·      Black Cat
·      Venom

8.  Interactions with the larger MCU.

I can’t wait to see Spider-Man/Parker sharing scenes with Tony Stark, Captain America, Thor, S.H.I.E.L.D.   I think it would be cool to see Parker share scenes with Daredevil and Jessica Jones too.  This is nothing new though, I’m sure everybody wants this.

9.  Science

I want to see Parker doing science.  I want to see him outsmarting people and creating and inventing.  This is essential to Parker’s character and I hope they focus on this, because Parker should be right up there with Banner, Stark, and Pym when it comes to science.

10.  Awesome Action

I remember after leaving the theatre and watching Raimi’s Spider-Man 2, I was ready to jump off walls.  With all the parkour stuff and the current technology, I can’t wait to see how Spider-Man will look swinging through the city.  Marvel has gotten extremely creative with their action sequences and I can’t wait to see that same energy put towards Spider-Man.

Awesome article!!

The Norah Winters, Brant, Kasady, and Daily Bugle stuff would be awesome. I like the idea of Clones on screen but like you said, it's such a crazy story I don't know how well it would translate

Good stuff !!

# 3 worries me a bit. Since they are going with a younger Spiderman I'm concerned they will fall into that CW love triangle story line. while I want him to have interactions with all three of these ladies. I'd prefer that they keep him single at least through the first movie. Concentrate on Peter and his own challenges before introducing the love interest.

The "Parker luck".....oh boy, how much I HATED that Webb's films just tossed that concept out the window.

Agreed, but no clones. The clone characters? Yes. But no clones.

@MrSotoMan

I agree about Osborn, I want to see Green Goblin but not right away. I really hope Osborn has a big presence though, and he needs to be an actually character, not just a corporation like in TASM series. I hope we here some casting news soon.

@Interestein @MrSotoMan

I agree about the clones it would be rough, but after watching "Orphan Black" clones would be so cool to see. It would definitely be difficult though.

@MisterSuperior

Right on, seriously, the Webb movies totally missed the concept of "Parker Luck" , I have faith that Marvel/Sony will get it right this time

@DrHankPym

Thanks!! I can't wait to see the return of the Daily Bugle and JJJ

@speedyg33

Thanks man!! I hear your worries, I feel the same way. I want the characters to be in the universe but I don't want them to focus heavily on Parker's girlfriends. I think Marvel knows this though, because TASM movies focused too much on that, so I have hope that the movie will be more Spider-Man centric

By 2017 it will have been 5 years since I saw a Spidey movie in the cinema, and just thinking about that moment (even though it so far away yet!) gets me excited.

I have such vivid memories of sitting in the cinema watching Spider-Man 2 (and 3), knowing that the movie was coming to a close and just willing it to continue for a few more minutes. I loved it so much.

I went to see TASM in theatres too but unfortunately it left me dissapointed, and with no desire to ever see the sequel.

Here's hoping that "Marvel Studio's presents Spider-Man" can recapture the sheer joy I felt watching Spider-Man 2.

Ah...Spider-Man.....

Man I love this character. And I can't wait for the MCU version. I agree with so much of what you wrote here. Here's the thing for me.....I like a lot of what I've seen in the other five films. But no movie has all of it. I loved Peter Parker in Raimi's first film. Not so much the second and third film. I loved Dafoe as the Goblin. But hated the suit. His face can show so much expression, and he was creepy....so it sucks they covered it up. His face would of been perfect for some makeup. Doc Ock in 2? Not Doc Ock. Harry as Goblin in 3? Sorry but Franco acting was painful. Sandman is one of the three villains I have never cared for. But 3 actually made me like him. Weird. Venom, one of my favorites. And I kinda liked Topher Grace. My problem was he could have had more screen time if they hadn't spent fifteen minutes of the movie on emo Parker and bad dance numbers. So to sum it up the first trilogy just didn't do it for me when it came to the villains. That's one of the reasons I liked Webb movies a little more.

First trilogy had a better Parker.

But Webbs films had a better Spider-Man and Villains imo. Yeah it was definitely a version of Parker that was very far off from the Parker in the comics. And the editing could of been better. But the villains felt right to me. All four of them just weren't quite right in the head. In different ways too. More psychological than people give it credit for. But yeah, not so good of a Parker.

So I can't wait to see if they can take the best of all of it and bring it to the MCU!

Sonys interference caused a lot of the problems in the other films. Hopefully we get a director for Spider-Man that can handle all this pressure.

@DrKinsolving

It's what makes Peter Parker such a likable guy. Hell, that's what makes Spider-Man even relatable because it's still this guy that has the worse luck as a person, with money troubles that so many people can relate to. What I loved about Spider-Man 2 when Peter trying to handle two jobs while living in a craptastic apartment when he's one of the greatest superheroes of all time...it make this iconic pop culture character so relatable and entertaining moreso than what Spidey can actually do as a hero.

I've never read the Clone Saga, so I don't really know why everyone hates it. Also, people have told me not to read it. I'll probably read it anyway if even just as an example of what not to do when writing a comic book.

I agree with everything. Osborn could be the next Thanos.

@DrKinsolving awesome list man, I really like 1,3,9 really want to see KRaven, Venom and maybe (Again) Rhino done justice. It is indeed going to be awesome seing Spider Man interact with the other heroes on the MCU roster, still not quite sure how I feel about him being so young but hey its MArvel studios. THEY GOT THIS!
WYLEEJAY
WYLEEJAY - 6/9/2015, 6:15 PM
I would like to see a NON powered Kraven. All he needs is his skill and cunning to pose a threat. Not the Ultimate version though. Hated that. Every villain doesn't need super powers.

@TheManWithoutFear

Definitely, I have faith that Marvel will do the character justice

@WYLEEJAY

I'm just as excited to see Spidey's villains in the MCU as I am to finally see Spider-Man in the MCU, haha, can't wait. Kraven would be amazing, hopefully we get to see that eventually

@NovaCorpsFan

Yeah, the Clone Wars is just insanity, but I think they could pull it off, but it would definitely be a risk and difficult. After watching Orphan Black and stuff like that, I think it could be really cool though

@GliderMan

Thanks man, I think Emma Stone was by far the best thing about TASM franchise but the way they handled the death of Gwen was rushed and personally, I feel like they absolved Parker of a lot of the guilt. Because Parker did everything he could to stop her from getting involved. When it comes down to it, it was Gwen's choice to get involved and if Gwen listened to Peter, she would still be alive. I understand they were possibly trying to avoid the "damsel in distress" theme but it didn't work for me. Especially how Gwen somehow got out of the webbing, stole a cop car, got through traffic and arrived to the final battle before the cops. I'm not just nitpicking, I thought about this when I first saw the movie

In the comic it was a lot different, because Gwen didn't have a choice, Osborn killed her (or technically Parker did because he snapped her neck when he tried to save her) but yeah, it was Osborn and the aftermath was a lot better. The Daily Bugle accused Spider-Man of killing her, etc, stuff like that. I also liked the bridge location in the comics better, but I understand that they wanted to separate themselves from Raimi's trilogy and Webb had that whole clock tower "time" theme he was trying to use

But, yeah, that's just how I personally feel about it, I also didn't feel like Harry's motives were really there and it was all really rushed, it just didn't work or make sense to me, that's why eventually down the line, I would love to see the story retold

But, the actual death of Gwen, her falling and everything and the "web hand" that was really cool, and filmed well, it was just the story and build up and everything that I had a problem with

@dethpillow

Thanks!! Have you watched "Orphan Black"? It's a really cool show man, I heard about the concept and I wasn't sure I'd be into it, but the show really draws you in....

I agree the clone saga would have to be a gradual build type of thing, not just one movie. I think it could work though, it would definitely be difficult, and yeah, we don't need it anytime soon, there's so much more that needs to happen in the movies

Can't wait for Spider-Man!

Nice article and I agree with your list. With #3 I dont want them to do the whole love triange or square thing. I think we've gotten enough of that with the first 5 movies. I do think he should have a substantial amount of interaction with each though. Clone saga would be good if done right. And #9 is my fav on the list because I dont think we've fully gotten a SM that could outsmart his opponents.

Thanks man!! And, same here, I've had enough of the love triangle, the characters should exist, and it should be touched on but the focus should be Spidey and the story. And, definitely more science, Parker is a genius, I really want to see that on screen

Totally, I have had a stare down with a mouse before and it really gets you thinking. Just a few years ago, I had a stare down with a mouse, and it was intense. The mouse was quick and really had an advantage in a lot of ways, I would take a step forward and the mouse was off, but if I just stayed still and stared, the mouse would totally just sit there and look up at me. A smart mouse too, I tried putting peanut butter out in the traps, and the mouse just avoided those traps, and sometimes even got the peanut butter without stepping on the trap. It ended bad for the mouse though, but those stare downs were intense.

And the Gef the Mongoose angle your talking about is [frick]ing awesome man, I love that.

Music matters so much too, I hope they use good music in the Spidey movies, I thought it rocked that the Daredevil show was playing the Rolling Stones in that Kingpin origin flashback episode. Throw some Zeppelin in a Spider-Man movie and that would be amazing
