Back when Tom Holland landed the role of Peter Parker, the trades reported that a large number of young up-and-coming actors had auditioned for the part. A couple of names were mentioned as possible contenders at the time, and now Riverdale lead KJ Apa has revealed that he was also among them.

During an interview with MTV News, the cast of the CW teen drama was asked about any "superhero auditions" they may have had, when Apa mentioned that he read for Spider-Man.

He didn't get the part (obviously), and it doesn't sound like he was too pleased with his audition.

"Uh, you know sometimes I walk out of an audition, you know when you walk out and you feel really good about it?" said Apa. "Feel like they loved it? I didn't feel like that."

Fellow Riverdale cast members Camilla Mendes and Madelaine Petsch intriguingly revealed that they also read for superhero roles, but they don't specify which ones.

Do you guys think Apa would have made a good Spider-Man? Which other comic book characters could you see him playing? Drop us a comment down below.

He'd make a much better Johnny Storm anyway.

He can play John Jameson.

Also, Man-Wolf is a character that Taika Waititi can love.

Asa Butterfield apparently HAD THE ROLE ON LOCK but then he went around town telling everyone he was Spiderman. Marvel then gave it to Holland.

Funny when you consider how Holland can't keep his mouth shut about spoilers
