A lot of people have been worrying that with everything going on with The Amazing Spiderman 2 ("Amazing Spiderman: Rise Of Electro" and "Amazing Spiderman: High Voltage" in some countries), the story will be crammed in to the limited run time of the film, a fatal mistake for Sam Raimi's Spiderman 3. After hearing these concerns countless times on the internet, I have decided to list the reasons I believe there is nothing to worry about.
1. ELECTRO IS THE VILLAIN
At the Spiderman panel at San Diego Comic Con 2013, a worried fan (one of many) asked the crew of the film about the thing everyone fears: Amazing Spiderman 2 becoming another Spiderman 3. At the Con they assured us that, yeah Rhino and possibly other villains may appear in the film, but they're not THE villains. Electro is THE villain. People talk about Rhino and Electro as if they're going to be fighting side by side as the films antagonist in the same way Riddler and Two-Face did in Batman Forever. That's simply not true. Electro is THE villain of the film, which brings us to reason #2:
2.RHINO PLAYS A LIMITED ROLE IN THE FILM
Rhino is not an antagonist in the film the same way Electro is. Pail Giamatti plays a limited role. Maybe we'll see an origin story, or maybe he'll just show up for one scene. Who knows, the film isn't out yet. But Giamatti has already stated that he'll be returning in The Amazing Spiderman 3, so I personally doubt we'll even see him in his Rhino outfit until then.
3. AMAZING SPIDERMAN'S 3 AND 4 HAVE BEEN ANNOUNCED
Sony have already announced Amazing Spiderman 3 (June 10, 2016) and Amazing Spiderman 4 (May 4, 2018). Normally that wouldn't mean anything, however, with existing confirmed announcements and unconfirmed speculation, it appears that with these sequels and the untold story that we have yet to get, Sony has already mapped out the story and continues to alter it as needed, similarly to how Marvel Studios maps out their Cinematic Universe. Examples: Mary Jane's delay (more below), Rhino's story arc (beginning with ASM2 and continuing in ASM3), and the possibility of the Ultimate Six appearing in ASM4. Sony obviously doesn't want Spiderman 3 to happen again.
4. MARY JANE'S DEBUT DELAY
Fans everywhere were relieved when Mary Jane Watson was removed from the film. MJ was originally set to appear in Amazing Spiderman 2, portrayed by Shailene Woodley but she was cut due to pacing. She will appear in Amazing Spiderman 3 portrayed by a different actress (Woodley is working on other projects). This to me is further proof that Sony knows what they're doing with the franchise. Sony and Mark Webb know what overall story they want to tell and can move certain parts of it around like jigsaw puzzle pieces when they need to.
5. HARRY OSBORN AS THE HOBGOBLIN?

We all believe that Norman Osborn (the apparent main villain of the series as he's been working villainously behind the scenes in the previous movie)will become the Green Goblin, but no one really had any idea that Harry Osborn would turn into the Ultimate version of the Hobgoblin. But it looks like that may happen in The Amazing Spiderman 2. Maybe. Storyboards for the film were leaked online for the film that showed this happening. There is still no word on whether or not these storyboards are fake or not. Obviously, with everyone's fear of another overcrowded Spiderman film, these storyboards were met with overall backlash. I honestly believe they're fake, considering how long it took Sony to remove them from this site, however, even if they're not I ask you this: do you really think Sony is going to put Hobgoblin in the middle of this movie when they have already announced Electro as the sole antagonist AND Rhino is already in the film as set up? If these are real, they're probably either for an after credits scene (if it were for an ordinary scene, word would probably be out by now as an unconfirmed rumor due to set images), or the storyboards are for ASM3. There is also the possibility that these were just early concepts that have been ditched. Anyone remember when Irrfan Khan was set to play Proto-Goblin in the first film before that concept was ditched and he played Dr. Ratha instead? It happened.
I am not a god. I can't tell you if Amazing Spiderman 2 will be overcrowded in 2014 or not. But I just told you why I disagree with the fears that it will.
