Is Robert Downey Jr announcing the next Spider-Man? Is it Dylan O'Brien?

Robert Downey Jr has said a "Big announcement" is approaching! Is it the reveal of the next Spider-Man? Here's my theory on why it just might be.

Last week, Robert Downey Jr stated on Twitter/Facebook that he would be delivering a “big announcement in 8 days”. Now could that potentially be regarding Spider-Man?

This announcement isn’t necessarily going to be about the wall-crawler. It could very easily be further promotion for Avengers: Age of Ultron, however, today’s major implosion of fan conjecture, suggests otherwise. According to Reddit user, ‘redditleaker23456’, Dylan O’Brien is the man in pole position to take up the mantle. Of course, Reddit isn’t entirely reliable, but Reddit and this user, specifically has proven to be a significant source in recent months. As mentioned in a previous article, this same user divulged the deal between Sony and Marvel prior to the official press release.

So, why do I feel so optimistic that it will be, at least, a Spidey-related announcement by RDJ? Well, if you compare the first and latest official movie posters of the Avengers: Age of Ultron, you may notice something interesting. In the latest poster, as addressed by IGN on February 24th, Danny Elfman has been accredited as an additional music composer (unlike in the original poster). As many of us know, he composed the sound track for Tim Burton’s Batman, Ang Lee’s Hulk, but more recently, the original Raimi Spider-Man movies! This is obvious speculation, but could this be another - more concrete - indication of it indeed being an announcement for the next Spider-Man? I certainly hope so.

We shall find out later this week! Let me know what you think in the comments below.

I hope not, I don't like O'Brien for the role....

O'Brien has already stated that he has had no contact with Marvel and that these are just rumors.
