Marc Webb On The Characters Who Have Yet To Be Revealed In TASM 2

While talking to Total Film about his upcoming Amazing Spider-Man sequel, Webb pretty much confirms that the actors whose characters have yet to be announced will indeed be "familiar to fans" -- but will they be who we think they'll be? Read on for more..

Though Marc Webb has since denied it, a while ago we brought you the news that Colm Feore would in fact be playing Adrian Toombes (aka The Vulture) in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Actress Felicity Jones is also rumored to be playing The Black Cat, but neither of these have been officially confirmed. In an interview with Total Film Webb admits that he's "intentionally concealing" these things when asked if the actors whose characters we still don't know would be familiar to comic fans -- while pretty much confirming that they will at least be "constructed" from canon.

“Hmmm... Well, how do I answer that? How about this? Anything you expect, you'll be surprised. To be totally honest, I intentionally conceal these things because I want people to be engaged and surprised when they see the film and experience it for the first time. It's not like Harry Potter or Twilight necessarily where you know the stories.

"And we are constructing them from elements of the comics obviously, from the canon, and we pay homage and are very protective of certain elements of the canon, but we want people to experience it for the first time in the theatre and I think that’s an experience that it often robbed from the audience, so you’ll forgive me being coy.”

Do you think Feore and Jones will be playing who we think they will? Or do you think they may possibly be a mish-mash of known characters? Sound off below.

I think Sarah Gadon is DEFINITELY Felicia Hardy.

They'd need a girl in the villains team and I think they'd include Black Cat.

@subzero - The Rami films sucked.

killed off every villain apart from Sandman

built up a villain (Harry) only for him to get KTFO

Mary Jane was a bitch

Peter cried all the time

Venom and the green goblins were Power rangers

Aunt may was a bitch

Doc Ock wasn't near enough as bad

They rushed peter graduating school too fast

The only character that was brought any justice was J Jonah Jameson

TheDpool must be a fan of The Hipster Spider-Douche who spends 5 minutes dicking around with a simple car thief.

I'm one who thought that Raimi's Spiderman movies were just ok. Even Spiderman 2. I dont like how he turned Spiderman into a cry baby and every single movie it was MJ in danger and she had to be saved. I loved TASM and cant wait for the sequel. Webb seems like he really understands what the fans want and is giving it to them.

@Levi

Spiderman is a jokester/clown. That is the type of Spiderman I want to see. Not one constantly crying and doing emo dance numbers

TheDpool mentioned everything why I dislike the Raimi trilogy (that's not to say they are horrible movies. How can I hate something when the fight scenes are incredible?)

@BeanzReilly

I laughed when he did that and so did my fiance who has no clue about how Spiderman's personality and so did people in the theater. Because you dont find something amussing doesnt mean others dont.

But Ant May wasn;t a bitch. She and J.J were the best parts from the Raimi trilogy.

GOOOO WEBB! Haters will hate, who cares any more? This movie will make millions anyway, the haters are just jealous.

It's funny to hear people hate on Webbs Spider Man, when he is hell bent of constructing things from canon. When his trilogy is over and done, they will praise it as the definitive Spidey trilogy. I wish people would shut up and enjoy especially considering Raimi's Spider Man was boring, i grew up reading Spidey, and his movie were boring. Maguire was laughable in the role and rubbed me the wrong way i could even take him serious as Peter!

I might have more respect for the Raimi trilogy if they had wrote Peter differently and had cast someone with more talent to play him.

@CoulsonLives - step away from the keyboard..slowly.

TASM was good..that's all. Nothing in any way special about it whatsoever aside from the acting from the two leads. The villain was CRAP! Not Rhys Ifans' fault, but he was terrible. Hopefully Webb can step up his game for the sequel but as it stands Raimi's Spider-Man 2 blows it out of the water.

Who are these people to tell you what to do? Lol, don't listen to Ror (or anyone else).

I'll never understand why everyone says Lizard was a horrible villain. I mean, his motive was strange, but understandable. AND HOW THE HECK DOES HE LOOK LIKE A GOOMBA? Or whatever it's called. I personally thought Lizard was a terrifying villain.
malreyn

I liked Garfield and Stone in their roles, which is the most important thing. Spidey acted and fought more like Spidey than in Raimi's films. I didn't love much else. It wasn't bad at all, just kind of "eh." But this looks bad, so far. Like I said, I'm hoping I can change my tune. Maybe when the trailer drops.
