MORBIUS International TV Spot Sees The Good Doctor Give In To His New, Bloodthirsty Impulses

We're now less than a month away from the release of Morbius, and a new international TV spot for the Sony Pictures movie reveals more of Dr. Michael Morbius' transformation into a literal Living Vampire.

With so much hype still surrounding Spider-Man: No Way Home, it's easy to forget that we're less than a month away from kicking the year off with our first Marvel movie: Morbius. Set in Sony's Spider-Man Universe, there's a lot of intrigue surrounding the blockbuster, especially as it takes place in a world seemingly borrowing from multiple realities (unless that was all misdirection).

It's likely to tie into the MCU somehow, though, because we know Michael Keaton was shooting additional scenes as Adrian Toomes just a few weeks ago. There are no Multiversal teases in this international TV spot, unfortunately, though we do get to see more of the Living Vampire in action.

You have to believe the marketing campaign for Morbius will pick up the pace over the next few weeks, as the movie otherwise risks being overlooked (there's not a lot of hype online right now). Given the unprecedented box office success of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Sony is no doubt hoping this "spinoff" can capitalise, launching a franchise as successful as the Venom movies.

"One of Marvel's most compelling and conflicted characters comes to the big screen as Oscar winner Jared Leto transforms into the enigmatic antihero Michael Morbius," reads the synopsis. "Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble. While it seems to be a success, a darkness inside him is unleashed. Will good override evil - or will Morbius succumb to his mysterious urges?"

The cast of Morbius includes Jared Leto, Matt Smith, Adria Arjona, Jared Harris, Al Madrigal, and Tyrese Gibson, and the movie is currently set to arrive exclusively in theaters on January 28.

I honestly think this will be a better movie than either Venom movie. It's not really necessary it is being made, but I'll definitely give it a try (but not in cinemas)

Female FB friends have already started hyping it up

it does look good and the visual effects look decent too, so it will be good to see this villain in a Spidey film down the road but not to soon .

i'd say put him in blade but then they would probably have to kill him off unless he teams up with blade in some way.

@Gotham82 - well if they take a page from Flash’s book and have portals into other universes the Twain can certainly meet

I usually get a good feel for a movie through a trailer or a clip and that last trailer made the movie look like another Man-Thing.

Remember the Man-Thing movie? No? Well... s'not good.

@GwenLantern - But it was still MAN-THING!

That whole “I am Venom” gag is not only not funny but delivered so half ass... I hope they don’t keep it in the final cut.

In what way does this look good or interesting? I feel like I’ve seen it already it’s so cliche. It’s not showing us anything we haven’t seen from a million vampire movies, even ones aiming for the superhero bent like Dracula Untold (they were clearly trying to make him a vampire superhero/antihero for their shared monster universe). Genius has to take a special cure that turns him into a monster. Then we watch him broodingly talk about the burden of his curse/gift and go through the vampire addiction metaphor or ‘it saves me but at what cost!’ thing for an hour. I’d rather just watch the 5 seasons of Angel again.

@connorblaze - leto? Vampires? Marvel? Do you not see the potential for a certain demographic to love that combination? I’m not saying we’re looking at another sleeper hit like Aquaman, Twilight, or Magic Mike… but I think blind lesbians will drive there, not to mention straight women that can see things with their eyes.

I actually think this looks very good and could be the best Marvel based output we’ve seen for a while if you ignore the Raimi based content of NWH.

I love how the entire marketing tagline of this film is "THE LINES BETWEEN HERO AND VILLAIN WILL BE BLURRED" as if that wasn't Venom's entire marketing pitch

@Kumkani - Morbius will always be 90s classic confused villain to my subjective opinion
