More From Marc Webb On THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2; Reveals The First Shot Of The Movie

In a lengthy new video interview with The Amazing Spider-Man 2 director Marc Webb, he talks in great detail about the tone of the movie and fields questions on everything from The Rhino to Black Cat, the possible death of Gwen Stacy and whether or not Peter Parker was "too cool" in the first movie.

In another great interview from this year's San Diego Comic-Con, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 director has opened up about everything from the tone of the sequel to the characters. Despite treading carefully around questions about the Black Cat and whether or not Gwen Stacy dies in this movie, you may want to keep a very close eye on Webb's body language to see whether he gives anything away. As for whether any particular villains are being introduced to be brought back in the next two instalments, it certainly sounds like that is indeed the case (with The Rhino at least). The filmmaker also reveals the first shot of the movie and plenty more, so be sure to check out the interview below and sound off with your thoughts in the usual place!

In The Amazing Spider-Man™ 2, for Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), life is busy – between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can’t come quickly enough. Peter hasn’t forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen’s father to protect her by staying away – but that’s a promise he just can’t keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.

STARRING:

Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man
Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy
Shailene Woodley as Mary Jane Watson
Jamie Foxx as Max Dillon/Electro
Sally Fields as Aunt May

RELEASE DATE: May 2nd, 2014.

Eh...I really enjoyed the first, and excited about this next one. Probably the movie I'm looking forward to most for 2014. Peeps can hate and bitch, but I get something out of it.

Lol when she asked about the black cat you could tell he knew she was using that same tactic she used on jones. And he was like " idk if she's in the film?" I honestly don't think Gwen is dying in this installment, if she was you would be able to tell by webb's body language. He would've answered right off that bat but he was like " what?"

All I have to say is Peter isn't suppose to be "cool". He's not the guy you want to be. On the surface he's a nerd, a geek, a loser. Peter isn't suppose to be cool, he's like Clark Kent. He's the guy you think of as a loser. An underdog.

The TASM franchise is taking a different route with Peter and letting his development into a paragon of truth take place slowly, not just through one incident. What's the problem with that.

@LEVITIKUZ

And that's how exactly he was portrayed by Sam Raimi especially in SM2. Wasn't the clock a motif in SM2, emphasizing that peter can never be on time for his job or for Mj's play.....We have covered that ground before. Come on Webb, you can do better -_-

Webb is gonna knock it out the park =)Im glad he understands electro is far from a 2nd string villain based of of his powers alone even marvel try to pull that crap in the comics except in the gauntlet run and ultimate spider-man probably his best depictions.

To me, Garfield's Peter seems more of a post-Spider-Man peter than pre-spidey peter. Peter (post spider-bite) was confident, and didn't just roll over, and while he wasn't the boisterous "troll" like he is as Spidey, he wasn't this punching bag . If anything, he was more un-assuming than weak. Smash Tobey's pre-spidey parker and andrew's post spidey parker, and you've got your perfect Peter.

Am getting excited for this film. Having accepted this film has a different tone than the previous series, I think i'll enjoy TASM 2 more.

F*ck the haters. Loved the first one, looking forward to this. Marc Webb knows what he's doing. And when he was talking about the ticking clock I got chill bumps

What are you talking about? Spider-man is a bad-ass and Peter is a shy, nerdy, loser. That's exactly what Webb is saying. He's liking being Spidey more than he likes being Peter. That's how it's always been in the comics. I'm getting more and more excited for this as time goes on.

I'm really excited to see how Rhino looks, it a little sad he'll only be in it a short while. The way Marc was discribeing Electro's power reminds me a little of the movie "Shocker" can't wait for 2014

To anyone who complains that Andrew's peter is too cool should pick up an Ultimate Spider-Man comic which this franchise takes inspiration from.
ClobberPot
ClobberPot - 7/19/2013, 10:13 AM
Get over it. This Peter is picked on and beat up in school for not being a jock and for standing up for what he believes. This Peter has confidence, based largely on his upbringing, because a good upbringing from a supportive family that loves you creates confident kids.

Dandy- you are right. Raimi and Toby's Spider-man wasn't close to canon Spider-man. He never did anything sciencey. We were just told he was good at science.
