SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME Could Be Followed By Another Trilogy And Even More Animated TV Shows

Everyone is wondering what the future holds in store for Tom Holland's Peter Parker post-Spider-Man: Way Home, and a new report indicates that Marvel Studios and Sony have some ambitious plans for Spidey.

We're still waiting to find out what the future holds in store for Tom Holland's Peter Parker beyond Spider-Man: No Way Home, though it is looking increasingly likely that the wall-crawler will be part of both the MCU and Sony's Spider-Man Universe (ie, movies like Morbius and Kraven the Hunter).

It would make sense for Sony and Marvel Studios to continue working together, but The Cosmic Circus is reporting that plans for Spidey might be even more ambitious than we ever anticipated.

It appears that deal for the streaming rights for those past Spider-Man movies was the first step in strengthening the partnership between the two studios. Up next for the wall-crawler would be a second live-action trilogy along with an animated series on Disney+, with each season released between movie 4, 5 and 6. Whether Spider-Man: Freshman Year is the first of those is hard to say.

However, the site notes that "each season will fill in the gap between each movie release," so if Peter is finally heading to college, then the plan could be to speed up Spidey's ageing process and bring him into adulthood a little sooner than expected (Holland is now 25-years-old).

Here's how they believe the schedule could play out:

Freshman Year (Season 1)
Spider-Man 4 (TBD)
Spider-Man (TBD) Disney+ (Season 2)
Spider-Man 5 (TBD)
Spider-Man (TBD) Disney+ (Season 3)
Spider-Man 6 (TBD)

Spider-Man: No Way Home arrives in U.S. on December 17 and in the UK on December 15.

We'd better get a continuation. Tom Holland could play spider-man for the next 20 years. Give me college Peter trilogy, then Peter on his own trilogy.

@TheMapleSyrup - I can imagine Harry and Felicia as Peter's college classmates. Also, Hobgoblin attacking Kingpin and Maggia. A madman with pumpkin bombs trying to kill the underworld bosses to become the big crime boss. Also, Cloak and dagger in the MCU.

I’m on board with this. The whole benefit of starting with a 15yr old SM is he can play the role for 10+ years

@DwayneTheRock - bet you wouldn't guess Spiderman 6 is followed by season 4, then Spiderman 7.

Give me college Pete, but only if he’s still in the MCU

Yeah we knew that back when CW happened. If I remember correctly all parties were hoping they could break spidey into 3 sections - High school, college and adult a trilogy a piece . I’m guessing they think and correctly thought people forgot about all that

this is such good news. spider-man is just one of those characters that can benefit so much from seeing his life progress to adulthood in real time.

I wish we could get something similar for Batman. with one version of batman actually being the main character in a movie/tv show at least once every year.

everyone's sucking his dick off right now because they are putting characters from another actors franchise in his movies.

That would be amazing! I’ve enjoyed John Watts more lighthearted films but I’d like to see Fiege stick to his inspiration of Harry Potter with the franchise getting darker as it continues. I’d love to see a new filmmaker step in after the “Home” trilogy and see what they can do with it. They’ve got great building blocks and a great Peter/ Spider-Man with Tom Holland.

This route would make the most sense IMO, and it’s the one I hope they take. The animated series in between the movies is a genius idea. When you only see a character in a 2 hour movie every year or two, there’s only so much you can cover.

by the way Jeff Trammell is such a good get for a series of this caliber. His show Craig of the Creek on cartoon network is filled with great storytelling beats that matures the main character in every episode and carries over into the next eps.

I've only caught a fraction of the series, but truly the only good show on CN right now
