Discovered cbm.com a year ago and finaly have the time to write a review of somthing so sad it had to be a negitive one of spiderman but I calls it likes I sees it. So here it is facts and opinions.
The dibously named "Amazing spiderman" is nothing short of a fail for comicbook fans everwhere.Ok that may have come off as a bit strong but this movie is not what I had been hoping for, weather the avengers upped our collective bars or not the fact remains that the retelling of a story so recent in our comic lexicons was just a bad idea from the begining.
There where a few saving graces but not enough to stop this titanic so i'll just say now that Mr. Garfield was a good spiderman, and Martin Sheen as uncle ben was very good casting, and thats where the compliments end at casting.
SPOILERS!!!!!!! With in!!!!!!!
To Start the changes to Peter Parkers overall character where noticable and just plain bad, he's not cool, and a loaner we all know this, we didn't need you to add the skateboard, the emo/hippy feel and the well quaffed hair doo. He's not a hero when we first meet him in the comics yet there in the first act he breaks up a fight between "flash" and random character X, the death of his uncle, because he did not act as a hero is what drives him both in the comics and later in this film yet he acts heroic prior to not acting heroic its confusing.
This films pacing was just horrible it was very easy to tell that the director previously made rom-com's and not action blockbusters. You end up wanting to be over here while your stuck over there. waiting hoping to return to the better side of the plot/story if ther is one.
Didn't give us anything new, other than his webbing being synthetic and not biological, suit simular, bantter simular, plot simular. I know its a reboot but come on. The previews promissed somthing new a darker story and secrets from the past we really didn't get any of that.
Bad guy, bad decision, the lizard is a great bad guy for the comics but not so good for the movies he comes off looking like something out of Godzilla (2000) and him being all cgi through out made it too cartoon-ish instead of live aciton.
The movie was clearly targeted at one group 13-16(yo) which is fine accept it becomes way to ovious by the films sound track and overall feel. The oringinal with Tobey Mcguire was good for kids, teens and adults not just one targeted group.
If you've seen the previews than you've seen the movie, you didnt miss to much, this is a hollywood trend that I wish this film avoided but the preiviews give you the whole movie what a let down.
I give this movie a 6.5 out of 10 and thats being nice so save yoursleves the trouble and wait for it to hit on demand and redbox at least the dark knight rises is coming soon.
