Rant: Amazingly Bad Spider-Man

Editorial Opinion

Discovered cbm.com a year ago and finaly have the time to write a review of somthing so sad it had to be a negitive one of spiderman but I calls it likes I sees it. So here it is facts and opinions.

The dibously named "Amazing spiderman" is nothing short of a fail for comicbook fans everwhere.Ok that may have come off as a bit strong but this movie is not what I had been hoping for, weather the avengers upped our collective bars or not the fact remains that the retelling of a story so recent in our comic lexicons was just a bad idea from the begining.

There where a few saving graces but not enough to stop this titanic so i'll just say now that Mr. Garfield was a good spiderman, and Martin Sheen as uncle ben was very good casting, and thats where the compliments end at casting.

SPOILERS!!!!!!! With in!!!!!!!

To Start the changes to Peter Parkers overall character where noticable and just plain bad, he's not cool,and a loaner we all know this, we didn't need you to add the skateboard, the emo/hippy feel and the well quaffed hair doo. He's not a hero when we first meet him in the comics yet there in the first act he breaks up a fight between "flash" and random character X, the death of his uncle, because he did not act as a hero is what drives him both in the comics and later in this film yet he acts heroic prior to not acting heroic its confusing.

This films pacing was just horrible it was very easy to tell that the director previously made rom-com's and not action blockbusters. You end up wanting to be over here while your stuck over there. waiting hoping to return to the better side of the plot/story if ther is one.

Didn't give us anything new, other than his webbing being synthetic and not biological, suit simular, bantter simular, plot simular. I know its a reboot but come on. The previews promissed somthing new a darker story and secrets from the past we really didn't get any of that.

Bad guy, bad decision, the lizard is a great bad guy for the comics but not so good for the movies he comes off looking like something out of Godzilla (2000) and him being all cgi through out made it too cartoon-ish instead of live aciton.

The movie was clearly targeted at one group 13-16(yo) which is fine accept it becomes way to ovious by the films sound track and overall feel. The oringinal with Tobey Mcguire was good for kids, teens and adults not just one targeted group.

If you've seen the previews than you've seen the movie, you didnt miss to much, this is a hollywood trend that I wish this film avoided but the preiviews give you the whole movie what a let down.

I give this movie a 6.5 out of 10 and thats being nice so save yoursleves the trouble and wait for it to hit on demand and redbox at least the dark knight rises is coming soon.

Speak for yourself I found the movie to be really entertaining and in my opinion more enjoyable than the original. The actors were better and Andrew Garfield made a much better Peter Parker and Spiderman than Toby McGuire ever could.

Yeah, I agree with JatevinM. I saw it at 2:00pm today, and I thought it was really well done. Still don't know who the guy was in Dr.Conners cell.

Don't start sentences with prepositions. It makes the article sound strange. Also this isn't news. One of the things I liked about this movie was Peter Parker. I thought Garfield was perfectly cast and I loved how he was kind of a punk skater. Probably because in high school I was a punk skater. Anyway, take the time to edit your articles man and be prepared to defend your position.

I will say I wasn't the biggest fan of the movie and you touched upon some problems I had with it. I think the biggest problem is the script was just so dull.

Not a bad movie just an unneeded one. Unlike other superhero reboots like Batman Begins, this one accomplishes nothing new. Its essentially a watered down version of the first two films. I mean look at the lizard, his character arc was a copy of doc ock in the 2nd film except his motives made little sense. plus where the [frick] was "With great power comes great responsibility". That line is what drives spider-man but this film lacks that. The perfect line for this film is "All the power, none of the responsibility", and that perfectly demonstrated by the films ending where parker just comes off as a selfish douche. Terrible pacing & structure, dragged far too much, hit and miss acting, unresolved sub-plots, lacked any sort of fun. Spider-Man 1 & 2 > Amazing Spider-man.

No I agree with the writer...that movie sucks and Sony should be ashamed...they take no risks...instead of doing something for the fans and making a venom or carnage movie since they have the rights, they go the safe route and make another crappy spiderman film...I can't believe all these so called fans are standing up for this film...you are just encouraging Sony to keep feeding us crap.

@somanybadthings

You shouldn't ONLY write clearly and concisely in English class. If you are going to state an opinion at least come off as somewhat intelligent when you write.

@SteveRogers

I never understood why people half ass articles. If you are going to publish something your credibility is on the line. Why the hell would you want to come of as unintelligent. A lot of people who post articles on here do, and it gives them more credibility. When people post articles that are full of grammatical mistakes I just assume they are trolling.

@steverodgers dude everyone can't write like that...and who cares, do you understand what he's is saying? Yes...he's not a paid contributor, and he's stating his opinion. If he was paid to do it then that'd be different...but he's just sharing on a site with friends...in my professional emails I don't write like this....(a lot of periods to separate a thought) lol. He can write better I'm sure, but it is his first article...let's focus on the point...and that is, drum roll....the movie sucks...

MitchConner - 7/9/2012, 6:14 PM
Let's not forget that even executives at Sony were iffy about this movie...no risks, it just blows man

So your argument isnt that im wrong but that i should have used spellcheck i think your focousing on the wrong thing. And i used "us" as refering to being in an audience, and Spider-man or not this film wan't up to par and as a whole again garfield and sheen withstanding wan't good.

I'm not trying to hate on your opinion of the movie @steverogers666 you have every right to it, and if my english comes off as bad well then ill have to be more carefull in the future but to say its the best to date is a little much.

Lol mate i could barely get through your article, what a load of rubbish, people who say if youve seen the previews youve seen the movie bullshit, alot of my facourite scenes of the film were barely shown in the previews. And saying its targeted at teens is also rubbish, theirs alot of stuff in here some teens wouldnt even pick up on. Frankly this article seems like its written by a bitter little teen who dosent understand the deeper emotions in this film.
