Matt Tolmach, president of Columbia pictures, told THR that the studio has to focus on good story telling rather then technology they have at their disposal. Which is def a step in the right direction.

How many times have you heard fans complain of studios putting to much into special effects and relying on them to deliver and make the film solid? Too many that's how many times. At least Matt sees this flaw and is trying not to let this mind set permeate and screw up the newly rebooted Spider-Man franchise.

Marc Webb is set to direct with James Vanderbilt writing the script. Matt Tomach went on to further say this is "Peter Parker told differently. We're humbled by it,"

Whether or not fans are humbled remains to be seen.
