I love the original trilogy as I grew up with it, but I'll have to go with TASM. The first one to be is really great, but watching it now it feels slightly dated and much of what I enjoy about it is nostalgia-related. Spider-Man 2 for me holds up really well, but I detest the characterization of Mary Jane. Spider-Man 3 had some really good moments, but it was overall a huge disappointment. With TASM, although they spent a bit too much time on the origin, they handled Uncle Ben's death and the emotional ramifications of it on Peter better than in the original, and to me Peter felt more like a real, relatable teenager, selfish flaws and all. The chemistry between Peter and Gwen also far outranked that between Peter and Mary Jane in the original trilogy, and in the action scenes Spider-Man moved like how I always imagined him to.

Also, older movies had bad CGI, can´t watch.
I agree with you Vilturmite.

Reason why TASM i liked more is because everything feels more real and realistic, and real teenager, but older movies felt like they living in different world, and Peter who is teenager was adult, did not like that.
Next week coming next round.

ENOUGH with the [frick]ing Spiderman-movie articles already! And didn't FreedomFreeLife recently post a similiar article (http://www.comicbookmovie.com/spider-man_movies/spider-man_4/news/?a=76296). We get it, you prefer TASM over Raimi's trilogy, but we are not gonna change our opinions, no matter how many these so-called articles you post.

Did you just say TASM has better cinematography than Raimi's trilogy, let's see:

Spider Man (2002)

Spider Man 2:

Spider Man 3:

Those three scenes alone have better cinmatography than TASM, there were to many quick edits when Spidey was swinging in TASM and I couldn't tell what was going on especially in the final swing -_-

SM2 >>>

Seriously though, Spider-Man 2 is one of the greatest superhero films of all time. It is my 4th favorite CBM behind Dark Knight, Iron Man and Batman Begins. TASM is in my top 10 CMBs it's good, not great. Same with the first Spider-Man.

GuardianDevil - 4/28/2013, 3:33 PM
Spidey 3 was horrid, but I think it couldve worked if they had just used Ben Kingsley as Vulture like Sam originally planned instead of stuffing Venom into the mix. They could've had Spidey beat Vulture with the Symbiote, face Harry as Goblin. Beat him and be on the brink of killing Harry when he realizes what the Symbiote is doing to him. He lets Harry live, Harry realizes Spider-Man isn't a killer like he thought. Spidey removes the Symbiote because he realizes that he's becoming what he despises most. makes up with Harry. Then in a post credits scene Brock gets the Symbiote after Pete got him fired. And becomes Venom.

BAM! See ya for Spider-Man 4.

Is this even an article ?

"Let's see who has better cinematography !

*pops a couple pictures*
TASM WINS !!!!1!11!"

I don't think there is enough competition to stir up between these two franchise.

Raimi's Spider-Man told me what it was to have a fantastical Spider-Man movie when I was a kid. I couldn't get over how good it was, and it took a long time before I did. I had a wonderful time watching TASM last summer, even though I was sitting in the back of the van (drive-in) with my head on the side for the first half of the movie, and I will most probably have another wonderful time next year, watching the sequel.

Just be thankful for the shitload of awesome comic book movies they're throwing at our faces !

....
What Levi said.
Also, why would you compare images of the Amazing Spider-man to Spider-man 3 only? Where's the other ones?

Anyway, if it means anything, Raimi's movies were geared more towards adults than TASM, which is clearly made for Tumblr.

I love how people starts to ignore fact.
First round is about Best Cinematography, and people see that TASM had better Cinematography, yet those Raimi fanboys just keep ignoring it.

FreedomFreeLife
FreedomFreeLife - 4/28/2013, 8:32 PM
Why i did not add Spider-Man 1 and 2? Because those movies Cinematography is even worse, i mean colors are bad. I tried to find best shots that Raimi made, but there was not any, bad lighting.
FreedomFreeLife
FreedomFreeLife - 4/28/2013, 8:33 PM

You clearly dont know what is Cinematography. I mean videos you posted, it has very bad CGI, very bad lighting. You just proved how bad those old movies are.

"Most of your photos for TASM take place a night while most of your photos of S-M take place during the day."

Did you watch movies? Raimi Spider-Man movies DID TAKE MOST PLACE AT DAY, WHILE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN IN NIGHT.
STOP IGNORING THE [frick]ING FACTS
GuardianDevil
GuardianDevil - 4/28/2013, 9:39 PM
I still don't see how you can say TASM is better than all three Raimi films based off nothing more than the lighting and such.
FreedomFreeLife
FreedomFreeLife - 4/28/2013, 9:43 PM
Like i said, more rounds are coming.
Acting, CGI, Story, soundtrack, everything... Wait and see.

And i don´t see how Raimi films are better when its chilidsh story, villains all are connected to Peter Parker, and charaters and villains are wasted.

TASM is comic Spider-Man, Raimi spider-man is not spider-man at all.
TheSuperguy
TheSuperguy - 4/28/2013, 10:42 PM
To me, Raimi's trilogy will always be the definitive Spider-Man. It is like the classic comics, all the characters, except for Venom, are very good interpretations of the comic book. Also, I love how the trilogy as a whole is telling one big story, which is Harry's descent into madness. I thought TASM was okay, and if I had to grade the movies they would be:

1: Spider-Man 2 (A)
2: Spider-Man (A- or B+)
3: The Amazing Spider-Man (C+)
4: Spider-Man 3 (C or C-)

SM2 > SM1 = TASM >>> SM3

My opinion anyway...
GuardianDevil
GuardianDevil - 4/28/2013, 11:54 PM
SM2 was the Dark Knight of Spider-Man. IMO, that's the best Spidey movie. Easily in the top 5 CBMs of all time.

SM1 was very good indeed, I liked it very much. My problem with this one, and with the Raimi films overall was casting. I think Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst were horrible choices for Pete and MJ. But they did the very best they could've under the circumstances.

TASM was also a GOOD not GREAT movie. My problem with TASM is that it seems slightly more geared towards a younger audience. It seemed well "Disney channel"-ish for lack of a better word. Granted it overcame this in many scenes. Overall, it was a pretty good movie with a few great moments particularly Spidey vs Lizard in the school.

SM3, well....oh, never mind. This films was a mess. Could've worked and would've been alot better if not for Avi Arad forcing an unneeded character and ruining it.
GuardianDevil
GuardianDevil - 4/28/2013, 11:58 PM
I'm just more of an optimist when it comes to CBMs. I know a lot of folks hate TASM, but I thought it was pretty good.

Tall and handsome Andrew or... short and fat Tobey.

Ha, we know you've got that auto-correct, man.

TASM was bad. First time I saw it, I was wondering when I was going to see Spider-man at least an hour into it. When Redbox brought it back to me, I decided I was being a hater, and that it's just bad, not horrible.

Maybe in time, it'll graduate to mediocre, but there's no excuse to make a poor Spider-man movie with THAT cast. Especially when Raimi showed the world how hammy Spider-man can be. I still think people don't really appreciate the "emo Peter" from Spider-man 3 - it's not like it was meant to be taken seriously. Anyone who owns any movie and has access to behind the scenes footage - will KNOW that the director was having fun. Was it really funny? No, not really, just goofy. Didn't last all that long either.

The Amazing Spider-man isn't hammy. That's not really a problem, but it disqualifies the comparison.
