The Amazing Spider-Man focuses more on Peter Parker’s high school days and the development of his powers while navigating the troubles of a brainy geek in high school. "Are they making the same Spider-Man movie from ten years ago?" is the best line IMO. Hilarious.

British people should stick with the roles they are good at. James Bond and characters from Star Wars!(jk)

Hey Scorp,
How do you feel about this movie? :)
There's somethin' about Spidey's look in this that's makin' me long fondly for the Japanese "Supidaman" live-action TV show, and, although it would never happen, what Spidey really needs in this new movie is his giant-a$$, black and yellow, cat-themed robot from that show.

Wow. So many haters. What's so wrong with the movie? It's got the an amazing and critically acclaimed cast (which is extremely rare for superhero movies), a script written by James Vanderbilt (the dude is a writing genius), directed by Marc Webb (500 Days of Summer was insanely good), AND it's possibly going to be scored by James Horner (made the music for Titanic, Avatar, and Brave Heart).
What in the world is wrong with the movie? Peter's "emo and depressed?" No, he's not emo. You're just being incredibly ignorant and judgemental. And of course he's depressed. I'm sure you would be too if you're uncle was murdered, you have no friends, girls generally don't talk to you, AND you're poor.
You hate the suit? Maybe they're trying to be .. (gasp!) original? .. It looks like exactly what a 16 year old kid would make if he was given a chance to become a superhero.
Andrew's hair? You know, I'm not even gonna explain that one. If you're really so stupid that you judge an entire film and its production on the main character's hair, you've clearly got issues.
The Amazing Spider-Man is going to be incredible. I can't wait for it to hit theaters and watch all these haters turn into hypocrits.. It's only a matter of time :D

That was mean and they look really uncomfortable. I laughed when he joked about Spiderman not liking Mondays, but when he complained about a Brit playing Spiderman in front of Andrew Garfield, that crossed the line.

BTW, Batman, Superman are being played by British actors too. I was thinking how ironic would be if a Brit also played Captain America... but anything can happen... we have an Australian playing James Bond.

I only know Andrew Garfield from Doctor Parnassus, and he (his character) was a bit annoying there, but I'll reserve judgement till I see the movie. I hate to sound superficial, but Emma Stone does absolutely nothing for me. Her voice makes her sound like Harley Quinn after retiring with Mr J to a trailer park, where they would live out their lives smoking cigarettes, getting biopsies, dentures, and dealing with age.

I thought she was ok enough in Zombieland, but that had the entire movie going for it, so it's not much to base any opinion on.

I swear, I'm not trying to debase this movie in any way, but let's face it: apart from the promise of a Lizard story, more exposure to Gwen Stacy and her family as well as Peter's parents, and of course, the actual classic mechanical webshooters.... it's just been so underwhelming.

Funny point about British actors though...

Batman, Superman, Joker, Scarecrow, Falcone, Gordon, Ra's al Ghul....

every1 just needs to shut up
first off...its good they are rebooting it cuz spider man 3 was horrible! plus they are rebooting it cuz the actors from before like tobey was in his early 30s at the time im guessing.
but i think this reboot is good not only are they going to reboot it but they are coming out with like 6 of them to which is even better!!
this spider will be great! its going to focus more on spiderman!! in high school...

@TrueRedBlue
i agree with u...of course hes gon be depressed he lost his uncle...he misses his mom and dad!!..no friends except 1 harry...and his life is just shit!!!

you ppl cant hate cuz this movie hasnt even come out yet but i will say this now! this reboot will be better then the first!! i dnt slightly agree wit the actors in this but u gotta give him a chance..they needed a new fresh young spiderman and im glad he took the role! for the next 5 or 6 films!
and i just hope down the line during this franchise they bring Venom and Carnage into the picture! that NEEDS to happen
Tainted87
Tainted87 - 11/13/2011, 1:09 PM
@Fishandchips
Oh wait, wow, how'd I forget that?

@Gnyah123
No one is HATING on the movie, we just don't anticipate it being the greatest comic book movie of all time. And wow, do you really want Venom again?

Venom is like War Machine, or maybe the other way around. All the fans or casual readers of Spider-man want to see Venom, and likewise with War Machine. Why? Because they're both cool-looking and can serve as vehicles for action scenes. Take those away, and what have you? More of the same.

Someone's common sense is tingling, if you know what I'm talking about...

Now I can relate. Venom would be really cool if done right. He was a fan service joke in Spider-man 3. Everyone knew something was going to be off when they heard Topher Grace was going to play him, but wow, they really dropped the ball.

Focus on stories, not the characters. You really could just sub in any supervillain in the context of each movie story (with the exception of Harry, sort of), and pass it on.

Perhaps Doctor Curt Connors is in charge of an Oscorp project attempting to create a healing application from reptilian DNA, a project which hasn't yielded any considerable results and will consequently be shut down. Connors pleads with Osborn to allow him to continue, trying to guilt him with his own amputee handicap, but Osborn's mind is already made up. Connors experiments on himself, mutates into a lizard creature, and kills his assistant Ted Sallis.

Back to formula?

Suppose Mac Gargan was an ex-con who volunteered in a science experiment that J Jonah Jameson endorsed rather than funded, with one Doctor Otto Octavius heading the exo-suit project named Scorpion. It goes wrong, Gargan's girlfriend is killed in the accident, and the suit is fused to his skin.
