With Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man's Peter Parker unlikely to head into outer space for an adventure on Battleworld, the show's first season found a unique way to throw the Symbiote into the mix.
Initially attached to an alien, it first appears in the premiere episode, "Amazing Fantasy," when the future Doctor Strange opens a portal, causing the creature to fall through alongside the superhero. The symbiotic alien then attacks a freshman at Midtown High, prompting Strange to use his magic to tie it up.
Doctor Strange subsequently returns to the portal to leave this time period, taking the Symbiote with him. Just as they depart, a radioactive spider escapes through the portal and bites Peter Parker, creating a time loop and leaving the alien in Norman Osborn's possession.
We know that Spider-Man will don the alien suit in Season 2 of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, but primarily when Peter seemingly succumbs to its power (meaning he has more in common with Venom).
Now, new promo art for the series has revealed our best look yet at a comic book-inspired version of Symbiote Spider-Man. The tendrils are certainly interesting, but the colouring takes its cues from both the source material and, perhaps to at least some extent, Spider-Man: The Animated Series.
A first look at Eddie Brock was also revealed earlier today, and it's looking increasingly likely that the Disney+ series—which returns next January—is planning to bring both the Green Goblin and Venom to Spidey's world. That should be hugely exciting for any fan of the web-slinger.
