SPIDER-MAN 2 Mondo Poster Unleashes Insomniac's Venom For A Battle With The Video Game's Spider-Men

Mondo has released a new poster for this October's Spider-Man 2, pitting the Insomniac franchise's Venom against the combined might of Peter Parker and Miles Morales. See the electrifying battle here...

Last month, PlayStation and Insomniac Games confirmed that Spider-Man 2 will arrive in stores on October 20.

The developers made it clear they wouldn't announce a release date until they could be confident in meeting it so the news is a good sign work is progressing well. As for when we'll next see a trailer or gameplay footage from the sequel, something dropping during this month's San Diego Comic-Con seems likely.

In the meantime, Collider (via GameFragger.com) has shared a new Mondo poster for the game by artist Tomer Hanuka.

On that, we see Peter Parker and Miles Morales battling Venom, and it's clear this hulking version of the fan-favourite villain will push the two Spider-Men to their limits. Based on what's playing out here, not even Spidey's extra arms and Miles' Venom Blasts appear to be enough to slow the baddie down.

There's been a great deal of speculation about who is wearing the Venom costume since we first learned it won't be Eddie Brock, though we're not entirely sure why that is.

Remember, in Spider-Man's post-credits scene, we saw Harry Osborn surrounded by the symbiote in some sort of stasis tank, so common sense says he becomes Venom (unless Norman ends up being bonded with the suit in place of his son).

While we still don't have a synopsis for the game, a post on the PlayStation Blog notes that, "players will get to experience Marvel’s New York as both Peter Parker and Miles Morales...the main storyline of the game will have you take control of both Spider-Men at different points of the campaign."

"In the open world, you will be able to switch nearly instantly between them as you explore Manhattan, Queens, and Brooklyn. Both Spider-Men have stories and missions in the world exclusive to each of them."

Take a closer look at this Mondo poster for Spider-Man 2 below.

Oh, I sure hope those Robotic Arms are not canon.

@Fares - They are, it's been speculated Peter will use them to compensate the loss of the symbiote.

Also, there needs to be a gameplay difference between Miles and Peter, otherwise Peter is just de-electrified Miles.

I buy everything Mondo, also Bottleneck Gallery and Vice Press. They make decent posters, I don't buy the studio posters, they all suck nowadays

I still don’t understand why they aren’t making Eddie Brock Venom. I don’t know why they’d change the storyline.

@MisterDoctor217 - who’s Venom this time around?

@MisterDoctor217 - cuz honestly who's bonded with the symbiote hardly matters. Eddie's character is basically just an excuse to have someone with a vendetta bond with the symbiote... but past that, the only thing that really matters is the symbiote wants Spider-Man and needs a host to get to him. There's been a few times it makes clear that Eddie is as disposable a pawn as anyone else to it, depending on the writer and continuity.

@Slotherin -

I disagree

Took me a good 5 minutes to realized Miles is on the poster too lol

I LOVE Mondo's posters. Some of the best poster artists in the world on there. I'm just too broke to afford $85 (+ a frame to put it in) right now. Still cherish my Dark Knight Rises Mondo poster though.

Weird..

The symbol on Venom is not the symbol seen on the promo art...

2 Hosts maybe?

@OptimusCrime - it's not?

@Slotherin - The top legs of the symbol on the promo art (and statue) go over venoms shoulder and has more pointy angles on the legs

In this image he has the classic symbol, with the top legs going under his arms
