SPIDER-MAN PS4 SPOILER: The Sixth Member Of The Sinister Six Has Seemingly Been Revealed

Insomniac's Spider-Man is one of the most anticipated games of the year and the team responsible for the Spyro The Dragon and Resistance franchises will hopefully craft a project that will be at least as exciting as Rocksteady's Batman: Arkham series. Sony ended their PlayStation E3 2018 showcase with an amazing demo featuring the brave wall-crawler doing battle with the modernized Sinister Six.

During the expo, only five members of the Six were revealed - Electro, Rhino, Mr. Negative, Vulture, and Scorpion. It looks like voice actor Chris Jai Alex let slip that none other than Doctor Octopus will be in the title in an interview with YouTuber Drift0r. While discussing the shocking abilities of villains forming the Sinister Six, he accidentally said that "everyone's scaled very differently, Doctor Octopus is really tall, Rhino is big..." basically confirming that Otto Octavius is the final member of the Six.

The video of the original interview has since been taken down, however, YouTube user Rick Grimes has managed to mirror eight seconds of the video. Doctor Octopus' involvement in Spider-Man is hardly surprising, as he's the founding member of the original Sinister Six (which debuted back in 1964) and has been featured in a variety of the villainous team iterations as the leader of the group. Take a look:

Starring one of the world’s most iconic Super Heroes, Marvel’s Spider-Man features the acrobatic abilities, improvisation and web-slinging that the wall-crawler is famous for, while also introducing elements never-before-seen in a Spider-Man game. From traversing with parkour and unique environmental interactions, to new combat and blockbuster action, it’s Spider-Man unlike any you’ve played before. Sony Interactive Entertainment, Insomniac Games, and Marvel have teamed up to create a brand-new and authentic Spider-Man adventure. This isn’t the Spider-Man you’ve met or ever seen before. This is an experienced Peter Parker who’s more masterful at fighting big crime in New York City. At the same time, he’s struggling to balance his chaotic personal life and career while the fate of millions of New Yorkers rest upon his shoulders.

Insomniac Games' Spider-Man will be released exclusively on PlayStation 4 on September 7, 2018.

Well he's the leader they were referring to in the trailer then.

@Nebula - Yeah, he's gotta be the 'guy they're working for'... I thought it was gonna be Osborn.

@Nebula - Is it though? I only watched the trailer once but there were 5 members of the Sinister 6 I it. I know they mentioned their boss.

It's easy to assume the missing member is the leader they're talking about, but I doubt Doc Ock would be the big bad.

I'm still thinking there's someone else that hired the Sinister 6.

To be honest it would be a little disappointing if the story was just Doc Ock gathering 5 other villains to take down Spidey.

I feel like there needs to be a final big bad, like Kingpin or Osbourne that hires the Sinister 6 to take out Spidey while they are busy with the real plan.

@L0RDbuckethead - It still could be.

It's very possible someone else hired the Sinister 6. Like Kingpin or Osbourne.

@CorndogBurglar - Very true. Kingpin would be pretty cool, tbh.

@IKidYouNotMan - phenomenal comment, sir. I tip my hat to you. My only regret is that I have but one like to give.

I still think the combat looks boring and reminiscent of TASM games.

But the voice acting is spot on, the story looks really good and it's so so nice to see an older Peter Parker who's still with Mary Jane. I'm excited. Hope they nail it.

@TheManWithoutFear - I thought the first TASM game was pretty solid, personally. Very Arkham-derived, sure, but ambitious in its own way. Didn't play the second, though. Compared to the more locked-down and linear games like Shattered Dimensions, it felt "like being Spider-Man" about as good as any other game.

Hoping Insomniac takes it to the next level, sure, but Spidey probably has had the best history of representation in games outside of Batman (and Batman only tops the list because of Rocksteady, without them it's not even a contest).

@Spock0Clock - I don't know. I thought the games were fine, but they didn't really wow me. I hope Insomniac can do something really cool and different with the combat to bring something new. Everything else about this project seems really good. I'm optimistic, i just want the combat to feel like Spidey as well. I think every other facet of the game will nail exactly that. In my eyes, the spider-combat is the hardest to get right.

(Also your callous disregard for Batman: Rise of Sin Tzu disturbs me)

Not that I'm mad, I'm glad to have Ock in the game, but I feel like all this buildup should have led to Norman. With his tease as mayor, and I assume he's reformed from Green Goblin, and all the hints to Osborns large involvement in the game I just figured it was him. Especially when it seems like whoever pops up at the end of that footage has a light on whatever they're on (reminiscent of the glider).

I'm sure Gobby might still play a large role.

@LegendaryOutlaw - Yeah, I was hoping for the Green Goblin to show up (maybe even Hobgoblin) to be a thorn in Spider-man's side. I'll be bummed if that isn't the case... I'll still get the game because of how excited I am for the game, but it will still be disappointing to have the Goblins missing =/
