Laura Bailey is one of the most prolific voice actors working today, though two of her most noteworthy roles may be in Spider-Man and The Last of Us Part II. In the latter, she played Abby, one of the most controversial video game characters of all time. However, it was in the former she impressed comic book fans as investigative reporter, Mary Jane Watson.
Talking to us about her role as Lois Lane in Batman and Superman: Battle of the Super Sons, Bailey reflected on her unforgettable experience as Spider-Man's MJ.
"It was so much fun! Anytime I get to do performance capture is such a stellar experience and Insomniac is one of the best companies I’ve ever worked with. They’re just so wonderful," she enthused. "It’s funny because I go back and listen to myself as Mary Jane and, even though it’s me, I don’t hear myself so much in that role, so I’m able to play the game and separate myself from it which is really fun."
As for Abby, that once very divisive protagonist (antagonist?) has since gained her own fair share of fans, and with HBO's The Last of Us TV show on the horizon, she's someone we'll probably soon see in live-action as well.
During our brief chat, we made sure to ask Laura for her thoughts on both the upcoming HBO series and wondered whether she'd be open to playing the character again should The Last of Us Part III become a reality.
"I would definitely go back to her," the actress confirmed. "I know there was a lot of drama and response to her character, but it was one of the most influential roles I’ve had in my life. I would 100% go back to play more Abby if the opportunity came up. The series looks amazing and I cannot wait to see more of it."
There's been no word on whether The Last of Us series will continue, though we'd be shocked if another game doesn't eventually happen. As for Spider-Man 2, Bailey is expected to reprise her role, but only a handful of actors have actually been confirmed for the still very secretive sequel thus far.
Batman and Superman: Battle of the Super Sons lands on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Combo Pack, Blu-ray and Digital on October 18, 2022.
