TASM 2: Marc Webb On Changing The Costume; Would Love A FANTASTIC FOUR Crossover

Talking in detail about whether or not the reaction from fans about The Amazing Spider-Man's costume led to the change, Marc Webb also comments on the possibility of The Sinister Six, and when asked who he would pick for a crossover, he says the Fantastic Four rather than The Avengers!

First Showing got the chance to sit down with Marc Webb at this year's San Diego Comic-Con, and the director talks about everything from how much the reaction to the suit in the first movie influenced the decision to change it for the sequel to the possibility of The Sinister Six. He also reveals that if he could have Spider-Man meet any other superheroes, it would be the Fantastic Four! Kevin Feige recently said that Marvel Studios work far more closely with Sony on the Spider-Man films than they do with Fox, so it's unlikely that this would ever happen (even the possibility of a crossover with The Avengers has been dismissed on more than one occasion). However, with no word on the status of Josh Trank's The Fantastic Four, many fans are surely hoping that the rights revert back to Marvel, making a possible team-up at least a little bit more closer to becoming a reality. Check out the interview below and sound off with your thoughts in the usual place!

In The Amazing Spider-Man™ 2, for Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), life is busy – between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can’t come quickly enough. Peter hasn’t forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen’s father to protect her by staying away – but that’s a promise he just can’t keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.

Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man
Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy
Shailene Woodley as Mary Jane Watson
Jamie Foxx as Max Dillon/Electro

Well he HAS given us one good Spiderman film.

And honestly, I can't see a FF movie being that good, even in marvel's hands.

Lol it's happening. It has a release date, director, script is in its last draft, and Michael B Jordan is basically confirmed to be Human Torch.

Yea it's happening. Along with that Venom Movie Josh was attached to.

Khan

Don't you get it? Sony and Marvel Studios are close. Fox has no relationship to Marvel Studios and Fox wouldn't want to pair up with Sony. Spider-Man is better off with the MCU than FF/X-Men.

I will say IF Spider-Man joins with Fox and FF/X-Men, Marvel Studios may be done for.

one of the best parts of comic-con was the fact that fox didn't mention the Fantastic Four. How much longer till they revert back home to Marvel?

Sit on the shelf for 5 years? You mean like how Fox will have had it on it's shelf for the past 8 years if it releases when it's suppose to?

Josh Trank was never officially director for venom. He was only in negotiations the whole time. And Sony is still trying to develop that film.

Tranks Fantastic Four and the X-Men universe are reported to be in the same shared universe.

I would love a crossover!

A fantastic four movie, if done right, can be fantastic ( no pun intended). They are one of the greatest superhero teams ever made. They are great characters with a great rouge gallery, and they deserve movie justice.
