The Amazing Spider-Man Set Photo Reveals New Take On Peter Parker's High School!

We all know that The Amazing Spider-Man will take Andrew Garfield's Peter Parker back to high school, but it looks like Sony have decided to alter exactly what sort of school it is from the comic books...

Well, there are two ways you can take the following set picture. Either they've decided to change the name of Peter Parker's high school for the sake of it, or he'll be attending a different sort of institution, which might explain how he comes across Curt Connors and his Lizard experiment! Whether this is just a superficial change to make that more believable or has something to do with showing off Spidey's intellect (looks like he'll be creating some web shooters after all) we don't know, but be sure to share your thoughts below!

Thanks to "pacmaster3000" on the SHH Forums for the heads up!

With an all star cast that includes Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy and Rhys Ifans as Curt Connors, The Amazing Spider-Man is set to be released in 3D on July 3, 2012!

Well, the name change being for Connor's working at the school is the likely explanation but I hoped that and expected that this film would be more like The Spectacular Spider-Man show where Peter is a Intern a Columbia University for Connors.

They better hurry up with the sequel soon or Garfield will be in his 30's by the time his Peter Parker gets to college.

well with connors involved it makes sense and we might finally get to see spidey be a [frick]ing genius I swear they play down his intellect in the comics aswell oh and how about when he's in costume we get some classic spidey quips and not have him mute.

Becasue it is Spectaculer Spider-Man, that's what the title should be called not "The Amazing Spider-Man!

@Jp499, your right, if you're familar with the show (Spetaculer Spider-Man) then this would be the same exact place, that Peter Parker, got bit with the spider. Ultimate Spider-Man, Norman Osborns lab, Spider-Man Noir-a Spider-God, and lastly Spider-Man 2099, a blood trasfussion and mix of creating an altenite Spider-Man from the 21st century. And so you have it all the Spider-Men out there.

There's your web-shooter explanation--and maybe the suit too if it's high-tech material?

We'll eventually meet Eddie Brock, Pete's loyal friend and almost like a brother. "You know the story, parents were friends and both father's worked together; and they all died,"-to Mary Jane.

I think this is where Connors teaches. I don't think this'll be the high school as I remember reading they already filmed those scenes, right? Great find!

@ELgUaSoN Thanks I'm just upset they didn't bring Liefeld on as a Consultant for the Cap movie. They could have worked it into the script that Steve Rogers emerges from the rebirth chamber with this exact same body lol

They changed the costume to crap, webshooters are the size of freesbies and now they changed Peter's high school history. How will Flash bully him in a science HS?

Change this much, why make a Spidey movie after all? Make up a new hero than...

rbfn, because of a few POSSIBLE small changes, you would rather them rip-off the character? Calm down, this is First Class all over again, but even earlier.

@Luthor: it's all a matter of the changes aligning or being acceptable with regards to personal choice and preferences. as much as I disagree with them, there are some people out there that were okay with the eyeblast-deadpool. (bleagh)

They could have given it less cheesy name like "Midtown Institution of Empirical Learning".

@TheWitness, Peter Parker went to New York's School for the Mentally Handicapped. Because of his seriously low I.Q., Peter ate a radioactive spider on a feel trip to a science center, where he and his other retarded classmates would spend the day folding boxes to help improve their motor skills.

Once digested, the spider slowly began to change his DNA to a spider's, giving him all kinds of smarts and the ability to date hot blonds and redheads.

Despite these new superhuman abilities, he has not been able to pull of such simple acts like a successful Broadway show, live-action television series, or 4 motion pictures without a reboot.

I hope this helps.

SERIOUSLY??? THIS IS A STUPID CHANGE. How the hell is he gonna get bullied at a SCIENCE SCHOOL? No one gives a damn about Flash? This better just be where Dr. Connors works.

Yeah it sounds like the "midtown" of science. So it smells like pee, there's lots of bums, and you can hear prostitutes having sex in the bushes?

This one is going to be gritier!

where the [frick] were you flash lovers, when raimi's movie happened, the guys was in two scene's and thats it. I don't remember hearing "puny parker". And honestly your telling me you won't get bullies in "Science" high school, wow you guys are idiots you get bullies in any sort of school.

I'm hoping the Science High School is just a catalyst to get Peter meeting Dr.Conners. As for Flash, dumbasses are in every school in America, I'm sure he'll be in this one. In regards to making it the 'Spectacular Spider-Man', the goal isn't to get 'all four' spider-men made into movies, they're trying to go back to roots (hence AMAZING spider-man), albeit with some tweaks and modernizations that you can expect in just about ANY movie based on comics or novels or videogames. I've got my reservations about the costume, but maybe CGI will help. All we can do it wait. For those hoping they'll base their decisions based on the cartoon and not the comics should keep banging their heads against the wall and watch Harry Potter or something.
