We’ve always known that Spider-Man’s most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead. It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp...

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will be directed by Marc Webb from a script written by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, Jeff Pinkner and James Vanderbilt. The film will star Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, Sally Field as Aunt May, Shailene Woodley as Mary Jane Watson, Paul Giamatti as Rhino, Jamie Foxx is Electro and Chris Cooper as Norman Osborn. The Amazing Spider-Man has swung into theaters. Now playing!

Action was great in the movie....but when Gwen died I didn't feel sad. She should have sat her ass down and stayed out of the way like she was told.

@MrNiklander I dont think Webb knows what unite means, it doesnt mean elctor and harry share a scene together and Rhino is in the begining and end, i mean Rhino never met the other too and remember this poster

I wanted to see that part!

Can't believe how bad this movie got it's on the same level as Spiderman 3 maybe even a little lower...

The biggest thing that bothered me about Gwen being there when Peter told her not to come was that she claimed to know how the facility worked and therefore was the person who could help, but all she did was push a button that was pretty much labeled "push here in case of Electro"

Why was this such a 'could of been better' movie?

It felt like the editor left some important scenes on the cutting room floor :(

I hope this goes back to Marvel (Studios) really soon

Bring on the symbiote. If this film is said to have 4-6 films in development I think there's still room for plenty of improvement. It looks like we'll have new writers and even a director after the 3rd film so I'll give Webb another shot at the Threequel. (I know...I know: Never put "Webb" and "another shot" in the same sentence.

But there's just so much I think they can easily fix...

Really looking forward towards seeing either Harry or Norman fully Goblined out in the Threequel.

However I do agree with some of the users on here that they need to work on Peter Parker more an Spider-Man...but Garfield is totally a great Spider-Man without a doubt.

At least they made Gwen Stacy useful and active .. not like MJ who is totally a damsel and distress in every movie.

I can understand part of the hate, but I really liked the movie. It's really not that bad (or bad at all). I mean, have you guys forgotten about Spider-Man 3?

Anyways, looking forward for the next one.

I watched Spider-Man 3 yesterday.

It is way better than Amazing Spider-Man 2.

Seriously. The three minutes of emo Peter is more tolerable than every cheesy scene Max Dillon is in, or the two minutes of Rhinozord.

James Franco is a way better Harry Osborn. Not only is he written better, but he better looks the part. Dehaan looks like emo Peter. WTF?

Yes, Sandman killing Uncle Ben is ridiculous; but not as ridiculous as Peter completely ignoring Uncle Ben's death altogether, let alone the weirdly awkward scene of Peter dressing as Spider-Man, goes to Harry, sits on his couch, and then tells him no. Seriously? That sounded like a good idea in your head, Pete?

And even tho Topher Brock was bad, the scene of Pete ditching the symbiote in the church carried more emotional weight than Gwen's death.

As crappy as SM3 is, it's not as bad as ASM2.

"Action was great in the movie....but when Gwen died I didn't feel sad. She should have sat her ass down and stayed out of the way like she was told."

@DVonShakari, With such blatant, disgusting sexism and misogyny like that, I figured you would've LIKED the movie. After all, TASM 2 basically punished Gwen for not listening to Peter and actually daring to make her own decisions.

"What's that, you're not going to listen to the powerful man in your life and stay put and do as you're told? Okay, you get to die then! But remember, it's totally not Peter's fault or anything because we, the filmmakers, decided to jump through flaming hoops in order to absolve Peter of ANY responsibility, guilt, and blame!" -TASM 2's terribly misguided (and possibly unintentionally sexist) writers and director.

I feel like the concept designer was a assigned to design 50 alternative Spidey suits but he knew that they were going to use the classic design, so he just bullshitted the rest.

I wasn't a big fan of the Raimi Sipder-Man movies, but this one was just awful besides the Spidey costume. Most will disagree with me, but I think TASM is the best Spider-Man movie so far.

@SauronsBANE1
You are the soft wet toilet paper type of individual that's wrecking our society. You're way too sensitive 1st of all. My point has nothing to do with a sexism or a man telling a woman what to do. Even if it was Peter's best male friend or ANYBODY, if he says stay out of it, they should have stayed out of it. Bottom line. Gender doesn't matter, it's just telling someone you care about to stay out of harms way. If they die because they didn't listen, too bad.

Really?

I guess that's going to be your logic as to why this franchise won't make it to the third film...

When I die, the first thing I want to see in heaven is the perfect Spider-Man film. A hybrid of Raimi's and Webb's films with Joss Whedon as director... I can see it now... (Pulls the plug)

@DVonShakari, Ignoring your wildly defensive, over-generalizing first sentence...I 100% believe that you didn't MEAN your original comment to be sexist or misogynist. I'm sure you're not a sexist person. But you seriously need to be more aware of how that comment sounded:

"She should have sat her ass down and stayed out of the way like she was told.""

I mean...wow. You have to realize just how sexist that comes across when you're talking about a female character and how it implies she should just sit down, shut up, and do as she's told. Here on CBM, most users won't even blink an eye at that. If you copy/pasted that comment on literally any other site, you'd be torn apart in a far more brutal way than I ever did.

I'm seriously not trying to be a sensitive douche, I'm just letting you know how that comes across. We live in the 21st century now. There's absolutely no need to let our comments even hint at sexist/misogynist tendencies. Cool?

I just wish they had went the Ultimate route. Big buff Norman Goblin, who is still coherent and intelegent. I was always a big fan of Peter in the Ultimate Spider-man series.
