Two More Added to Spidey Love Interest List - PLUS Venom Returning?

Two more actresses are added to the list of potential love interests for Andrew Garfield's Spider Man. And a new VENOM rumor as well!

Deadline is reporting that two new actresses have gotten themselves tangled in the Spider Man web of love in the upcoming Marc Webb directed reboot of the franchise. This from the article:

...Sony Pictures Entertainment has added a couple of contenders for the role. They are Dianna Agron, who stars in the hit series Glee and Georgina Haig, star of the Ben C. Lucas-directed Wasted on the Young, which premiered to acclaim at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Argon and Haig join a list of actresses that includes the increasingly popular Emma Stone, as well as Mia Wasikowska (Alice in Wonderland) and Dominique McElligott who starred in 2009's Moon.

It looks as thought Sony Pictures is looking to include both Gwen Stacy and MJ Watson in the film, going along with the "more teen angst" approach that was discussed when the reboot was first announced. Nothing like a teen-age love tringle to draw out the emotions.

Along with that, the article adds a new rumor concerning the villain for the film. It is being rumored that Phillip Seymour Hoffman is being persuid to play Eddie Brock, better known as Venom. Obviously, nothing confirmed here but worth mentioning. Ithink I'll pass on this one.

Compared to many people on CBM, I'm a relative newbie to the comic book world. I've just recently (within the last 10 years or so) started reading comics. However, I've been a fan of comic book characters nearly all my life, thanks to cartoons like the X-Men Series and Batman. Been downhill ever since.

I am an avid movie watcher and run my own movie website,(GeekBoyMovieNews) which covers a wide variety of movies, books and television news. There is nothing better to me than to sit back and a enjoy a good movie, or a crappy one for a good laugh.

While you may not see a lot of articles submitted by me, I've been an active user for close to three years here on CBM and I enjoy every minute on here. We have the best online community on the net her at CBM.com.

I've been lucky enough to climb the ranks here at CBM and the almighty Galactus has chosen me to act as one of his Heralds (Jr. Editor). So if you ever need suggestions or help on articles, I am more than happy to help out; you can find me in the CBM chat quite often. I also assist Big G in his "Beat Galactus Quizzes," so if you feel like you have a good question for the next quiz or suggestions on making them work better and more smoothly, feel free to drop me a line.

I look forward to talking and discussing comic books and their movies with all of you on the site!

PSH for Eddie Brock?!?

Why not Verne Troyer for Kraven while they're at it?

Dianna Agron for Gwen would be awesome. Maybe they are confusing Venom with Doc Ock. He would be a good Dock Ock. Or he could be Scorpion cause he l8tr becomes Venom. But not Eddie Brock.

Venom? WHAT?!? That's not ultimate or 616 Venom. Doc Ock would be cool, but Molina was good like Intruder said.

From the article: Early unconfirmed talk: they want to bring back Venom and they are looking at Philip Seymour Hoffman.

@Cyke89 Deadline said, and I quote: "Early unconfirmed talk: they want to bring back Venom and they are looking at Philip Seymour Hoffman. Discuss!"

And absolutely nothing about Hoffman playing the villain, nor about whether or not Venom would be the main villain.

So don't make WRONG CORRECTIONS!

@Intruder - Russell Crow for Norman? I don't see it. What role has he played that makes you think that?

I'm a big Bardem fan, but Gerard Butler would be good to, has many have said.

that info must be wrong Philip Seymour Hoffman must be playing The Lizard or Doc Ock

@Guason

well Topher Grace did play Eddie Brock they used Eddie Brock Jr from the Ultimate universe with a back story from original Eddie Brock

PSH as Eddie Brock, haha, good joke.

He might be a good Octavius(although I don't think he'd ever be as good as Molina).

Never seen Dianna Argon, but she looks pretty great for the part! I'm not so sure about Georgina Haig...but I'll need to see them both in something before I favor one over the other I suppose, hahaha.

As for if there are any connections between the two stated items...

If the film is going to have "Ultimate" elements as rumors indicate, PSH MAY actually be playing Eddie Brock...

Senior.

@Intruder - Yeah, he was good in Virtuosity, but I don't see the Goblin as that kind of psycho. Gerard Butler will NEVER suck, just because of 300. Yes, he has made bad movies.

Nah they are smarter than that! Theres no way they would cast PHS as Eddie Brock! No disrespect to him but Brock is a young and intense dude and i doubt they would even seriously consider him.

@Intruder - Really? I remember the Virtuosity character being pretty calm and collected. Maybe I'm remembering wrong. Green Goblin is always cackling and flying off the handle. I guess the recent Non-Goblin Norman is kind of like that, though.

Venom? Again? Already? For God's sake, give the character a break for few years. This reboot is meant to wash the bad taste of Spider-Man 3 out of our collective mouths, and bringing Venom back is not the way to do it.

Also, Philip Seymour Hoffman would be PERFECT for the role of Jack Mort in The Dark Tower.

It sounds to me like sony haven't got a clue what to do with Spidey anymore and are just grasping at straws! this new reboot thing is gonna be a massive flop for them and that'll be the end of spidey until san raimmi come back and fixes it all. it sounds like crap to me.
